Default Tank books.

I found this one at a flea market for $6.
"The great book of Tanks" by David Miller.
From the first tanks to what's on the battlefield in 2003.
512 pages,tons of pics 400 color, 100 b/w
This book is a over size edition that weighs in at 4 pounds!

The book begins with the World War I era tanks, such as the British Mk 1, that attempted to break the deadlock of the Western Front. It then examines major tanks that emerged during the inter war period. All the celebrated World War II tanks are featured, including the PzKpfw VI Tiger, the M4 Sherman and the T-34. Finally, it surveys the incredible tanks of the postwar era, including the M48, the Merkava and T-54/-55.
Modern tanks like the M1A2 and T-90 round out the present day.

*Note..there are errors; many mistaken identification errors in photos, some minor, some major. But its still a tank book.

What's in your Tank library?

"Death Trap" is pretty good. Can't think of the author off the top of my head. All about the Shermans and even though they were reliable and mass produced how ineffective their armor and guns(pre hi-velocity) were. Bunch of first hand accounts and also a general history of its concept through production and employment.

Default tank books you gotta read...

ok here goes my favs... "Brazen Chariots" its about british tankers in matildas in n. africia. then of course "Panzer Battles" by melentine,(staff officer to Rommel etc.) fantastic insight into german tactics and equipment in n. africia."panzer Leader" by Guardarien, need i say more?
then theres B.H.Lidel Hart, this is the guy who proposed the entire idea of modern mechanised warfare, when everyone else was peeking out of a trench.
a fellow named harold coyle( i think thats his name) wrote a series of modern armoured conflict(fiction) books"Bright Star" was one im sorry but the other titles escape me they are all very good and give terrific insight to being a tread head.
reading its what you do when your not on the computer

"Panzer Battles" is a great book. One of the best reads out there.
