Please do Keltos. I think its a hit. I would love to see the I boat models finished. Maybe you can enlist Jester V2's help?

I will release the version 1.0 (aka beta) SOON beacause we need to finish this !

1- Jyunsen B mod v. 3.9.9.9.9.3
2- Japanese campaign CLimb Mount Niitaka

Dont know yet what to do with RIB 1.2 (Real I-Boat, new sinking mechanics for ships) because it would need to be fitted in, or not, at some point.

sooo how'd you like the Sen Taka ?

When you think of it, we were better off with the japanese not having good tactics for their subs..

I wonder.. how much did the Sen Taka influence the Guppy ?

I'd say probably more than the Type XXI did, other than hull strength. The motors and the batteries, wow... And yes, from the Allies perspective, definitely a good thing that there was mismanagement in high places on all points of the compass for the Axis. The radio comms is what really makes me wonder "what were they thinking?"... Both Japan and Germany used land-based hf/df, why would they not think it could be used against themselves? But just imagine yourself as a DD skipper, able to do maybe 32-34 knots full-on. You find yourself a sonar contact and head for it, expecting maybe a 3 knot movement out of them... and they're gone. OK, must have done a quiet ahead flank... You re-acquire... and they're gone. Now you've got 'em again, and the sonar man says "... speed, approximately 20 knots, sir!" Is it a whale? Can they go that fast?...

From now on this will be the "official" Thread for the Japanese Campaign. The other was asking for help, so the title was misleading.

Since Japan placed more importance on sinking warships rather than merchants, this will NOT be "Engage Enemy Merchant Shipping". It should be more of a challenge with more engagements with Warships and Task Forces, but still some merchant missions. Especially with invasion forces bringing LSTs, Troops and Supplies to the allied forces.

The Submarines were built by Keltos, with some help from Mikhayl, Xantro and ZaZa.
Japanese name were supplied by Takao. quoted first post by Peabody.

Go, man, go! Can't wait to see this a reality.

Ten years old, and Silent Hunter 4, long abandoned by its makers, is plenty lively with the greatest mods it's ever seen under development NOW!

Under the waves, unseen , we are hard at work !

to help you wait here is a true goodie : a sound recording of a cutie attack on I-52

Attack on Imperial Japanese Navy submarine I-52:
These are two wires recording by the second aircraft sent by USS Bogue. Note that I-52 had already been sunk by the first aircraft. The propeller noise heard are from a German submarine in the area. However, the crew of the aircraft did not know this. It is interesting to hear the real rhythm of the 3 man crew working to find the target. It is also interesting how the training record above mixed the sounds from these recordings with those from the first plane’s attack for dramatic effect. These two wires survived in the collection of the NUWC Division Newport and later transferred to the US National Archives in College Park, MD. The NARA reference information is RG-38, 273, 1 and RG-38, 273, 2.
