Only 14K tons. What a shame.
Guess I shouldn't complain. I've had more than one patrol where I never made a contact, let alone a kill. One other patrol I had all 6 torpedoes in the forward tubes duds - either ran too deep, or just that sickining 'thunk'. Maybe I'm just cheap, but I feel like I'm wasting the taxpayers money if I don't run up at least a 30K score. Returning to base with 13 torpedoes kinda looks like I chickened out on the patrol. Much better to sail in with a broom tied to the periscope.

The next patrol is shaping up much better. Three Old Large Passenger Liners (9K ea) plus their escorting ammo ships. That's alotta troops and ammo that our guys won't have to contend with. One convoy had two of the Passenger Liners and two ammo ships. One of the freighters turned my whole screen yellow-orange for awhile. Looked like the Grand Finale' at a 4th of July celebration. WHAT A RUSH!!!

Exactly! Do you notice how aggressive you become when you do spot that ship after days of patrolling? Now you know why the real guys were so aggressive!!!! After days of fruitless searching....anything spotted within range is going down.
There were many instances in RL where the boat claimed a kill, but did not recieve credit for it. The book 'Silent Running' brought this out. Seems like the USS Jack only recieved 2/3rds of the credit due, and yes, the Jack had several patrols with no sightings or sinkings. Actually, the Jack was a poorly scoring boat, but the story made for good reading. The author is James F. Calvert, USN (Ret).

Default OK guys just barely survived to return to port

Now what is going on??? I'm in September of 1944 out of Pearl patroling around the Japanese home islands. RSRD is supposed to reduce traffic to historical levels. What I'm running into is multiple convoys everywhere. At one point I tracked three convoys of two or three merchies and four or five escorts simultaneously on radar. Every convoy of the past 10 or more that I've encountered has a similar makeup: two or three merchies accompanied by three to five escorts.

I just returned from the worst tonnage I've done and still had over 24,000 tons in spite of all the escorts I have to fight through to get to the merchies. Frankly it's fun and dangerous (had both periscopes destroyed and had to return home with two torpedoes left) but hardly as advertised for RSRD. Everyone else says they can't find targets.

I'm running in this order: Trigger Maru 1.7, TM patch 1.71, RSRDC_P1_TM_v114, NSM 3.3 hardcore torpedoes classic. Very strange.

I'm assuming all this is a dead issue. I'm in port downloading all the updates that come out while I'm at sea. They almost got me this time--blinded me. Hope I can survive the war!

First of all you are running a "VERY OLD" version of RSRDC. It only covered operations through mid 1943. Any thing after that day is nothing more than modified “stock”. I recommend that you upgrade you software to the latest build. The problems you complaining about have long been fixed in newer versions of the software.

Hi Lurker, Love the work you've done on RSRD. Will you be doing an update to be compatible with TM -Overhaul? I know its not compat with the beta.

thanks,

Kevin

I think this answers your question:

Do not use RSRDC with Trigger Maru Overhaul (BETA), my code review noted that v320 plus Patch3 will "NOT" run correctly. Will create a new version of RSRDC after TMO is out of Beta testing.

Default Lombok Patrols

I was reading an account of the HMS Terrapin traveling through the Lombok Straight and it mentioned that the Japanese had a base in Lembar on Lombok that they routinely sent patrols from to patrol the straight, since they were fully aware of its routine passage by allied subs. Any chance of adding this to a future update/phase?

Here's the link to the story: http://www.bbc.co.uk/ww2peopleswar/s...a2207477.shtml

UNKNOWN

Since it has not be released to the general public, it is impossible to know what effect RSRDC will have on it or vice a verse

@Lopo

Here is your answer. Best thing to do is either run TM 1.7.6 with RSRDC and wait for a fix or just run TMO by itself. Either way you can't go wrong!

Happy Hunting!

Neal just posted the readme for the add-on. Here's the new ships and aircraft coming:

-Graf Spee Pocket Battleship
-Black Swan Class Sloop
-River Class Frigate - with a correct 3d model this time
-J Class Destroyer
-V&W Destroyer
-Flower Class Corvette
-Fiji class light cruiser
13.New Merchant Ships
-Hog Island type A Freighter
-Charlotte Schliemann supply ship
-California Express Passenger Freighter
-War Melody
-Paula medium tanker
14.New Aircraft
-Ar-196
-Sunderland Patrol Plane
-Beaufighter fighter bomber

Looks like we'll able to get rid of some of the old SH3 ships that are currently in use with RSRD.
