Default Installing 4g patch into SH3

I downloaded the 4g patch, unzipped it and tried to install it into SH3.
However I'm not sure I did it right. I ended up copying it and pasting it into the SH3 folder.

Could someone give me a step-by-step on installing the patch using the nomenclature that shows up on screen? I'm just a little confused on how this one works.

Your must already be patched to the latest version v1.4 also known as v1.4b.

No you do not do that.

You are shown an installation path in the browser window.
Change this path to to the path where your main game folder is as it is looking for your SH3.exe.

THEBERBSTER,

Thanks for the reply. I didn't notice that there was a installation path and that had me baffled. I'd double check now except, looks quickly over both shoulders, I'm at work.

Since then I installed Sub Commander & GWX.

Should I delete all and start over?

Should it not be SH3Commander and GWX?

If the answer is yes then you also need a separate configuration file to work with this latest version of GWX.

Here's the sequence I installed:

SH3 (ver 1.4b)
4g patch (but apparently I did that wrong)
SH3 Commander
SH3 Commander Config
GWX Gold

So can I install the 4g patch, properly this time on top of all that, or should I delete all and reinstall from scratch.

I'm leaning toward the delete and reinstall.

Hi David
What I would do is unzip the zip file.
Highlight the correct 4gb patch and press the copy tab.
Now out of the zip file copy and paste it too your SH3 main game folder.
Open the patch and set the browser to your main game folder which might be something like this C:\Games\SH3.
The wizard should locate your SH3.exe and then patch it.
Once patched that is it.

Set your SH3 exe and the other applications to run as administrators.
Windows 10 needs to run in compatibility mode Windows 7.
GWX and SH3Commander have excellent manuals which will tell you all you need to know.

Peter & Ivanov,

Thanks for the tips. I'll do a complete reset up (including turning off my security system while working with the 4g patch).

I'll let you know how I fare.

Hi David
I do not think the 4gb patch will interfere with your anti-virus.
The hsie on the other hand is often taken as a virus and may be blocked by your anti-virus.
If you decide to install this the problem arises when you want to make changes to it unless you setiup an exception in your anti-virus as it will block you from making the change.
Different ant-virus programmes will work differently AVG will certainly see it as a threat.
