WO range reporting help!

So I'm fairly new to the Silent Hunter community and I have recently purchased SH3. I have seen quite a few videos where one can click on "nearest visual contact" and the WO will give you the bearing and the range in meters. Where I run into trouble is when I click "nearest visual contact" I am given a bearing and then instead of a range in meters I am told "long range" or "medium range". How can I fix this? I know its probably something simple but please excuse my noobness.

I am using the following mods if that helps:
- OLC "Gold" MkII
-GWX 3.0
-TMTv2
-ACM Reloaded for OLC Gold MkII
-Various other mods which do not affect this kind of thing

Hi Killroy, welcome to subsim!

I'm running GWX3 without any other major mod and I get accurate range reads from my WO, so i think for you it must come from the OLC mod. I think the OLC aims to bump realism including manual targeting etc. and paring down the accuracy of distance estimates by the WO is part of the package.

Personally I dislike having those distances nailed to a 100m precision, so if anyone knows of a standalone way to make that happen without the whole OLC, I'd love to hear about it.

It's ACM reloaded that does it.

Open data/menu/en_menu and change this:

4616=Nearest visual contact at bearing %03.0f!

to this:

4616=Nearest visual contact at bearing %03.0f, range %.0f meters!

And obviously you can do the reverse if you do not want a range reading.
