What really matters???

Had my ex wife over this weekend along with my daughter, not out of the ordinary we do spend the odd weekend together, i got custody the dog and my 15 year old son, she got my daughter whos 12 and the budgie, age unknown.

Usually when we are all together I make an effort to cook something good, usually an indian meal or a chinsese meal along with lots of extra's, i go the extra mile you understand, all from scratch we're not taliing micro meals here.

This weekend, i had no motivation, i watched some major factual documentary stories on the BBC that blew me away, the one that totally got me was "they shall not grow old", seriously this blew me away if you havent seen it i dont even know if i can recomend it, the reality is heart wrenching.

Im a veteran of the Britsh Army and the Royal Navy, i joined up in 1990, after seeing life as a soldier i crossed over to the sea, what these guys went through in WW1 is nothing sort of heartwrenching, it completely destroyed me i had to send my ex wife and daughter home to compose myself.

Whatever you do guys and whatever you think of my post please watch this programme it really is amazing, ill not watch it again because it is so poignant.

I wouldnt make my kids watch it but they need to at some stage of thier lives

Also to SonicNinja, i was not aware that this documentation has such an impact. Will watch it, even when being a bit reluctant now. All of my ancestors had directly or indirectly suffered during WW1 and all that came after.

OT here, i posted a link to the BBC VR documentary of a Lancaster flight bombing Berlin, and while i am sure it is technically breathtaking and great and whatnot i really am not sure whether i should watch it. Like in Hamburg or Dresden, the whole city ablaze with flames and firestorms, and the next flight just contiinues to drop its bombs into the mess. While as an observer from 2018 you know that your family was somewhere down there.

I am interested in history and documentaries, but sometimes...

My kids are 24 and 29 and I was surprised they weren't interested in viewing the documentary when I mentioned it on Monday evening.

Their loss I suppose.
