You're welcome!

So XP compatibility mode helped you?

I again have these CTD's. At first they have periodically appeared in windowed mode, then I switched to full screen - only CTD's. This is becoming funny...

Amazing, didn't change anything, and full screen works again! Maybe XP compatibility isn't even required...

I will continue to further test WAC, may be there's an error in one of the units.

yapp, e.g. the vii c does not work. this was discovered shortly after release of 4.0, it always causes a ctd. but the unrepairable compartments is another serious bug. there are a lot of problems, if you read this thread and the wac-thread in the german forum of ubisoft.

its a mess, that hansolo does not have time any more, to fix these bugs. he mentioned, he has to do other important things in real life now, and people are free to examine the bugs of wac 4.0

sad, but true.

Hello captains

I found something, perhaps useful perhaps not. I can't check by myself because version 4.0 do not work for me.

Go (if you want) to:

...Data\Menu\cfg\game

and there is 4 files:
damage_0.cfg, damage_1.cfg, damage_2.cfg, damage_3.cfg.

The 3 first files have inside:

;[ICON1] ; (description)

;[ICON2] ; (description)

;[ICON3] ; (description)

;[ICON4] ; (description)

;[ICON5] ; (description)

but normally the ; before [ICON...] should not be there, I think.

Is not there in stock game (so, not in WAC 3.1) and GWX.

Taking out the ; can resolve the problem, maybe?

I can observe, but I can't act. WAC 4.0 give me CTD always (the VII-C problem?).

Thank you for your attention.

Thanks for the info, urfisch and NGT! I found a lot of duplicate IDs in Turm files, will check these cfgs. I have already made a bugfix and sent it to Han. But as he is busy and doesn't respond... And there are still errors... I will post a new fix here when it's ready.

Default 4gb_patch

If I install Krabb's patch as above, then run the game, the protection system thinks that a virus or other horrible change has happened and tells me to re install (cant play it), has anyone else had this, or know how to get around it?
I re installed, used the patch again, and got the same issue!

Here is the message-

Vista 32 is used.

Thanks

Is it the protection on the DVD you are asking? If so you could try d/loading a no dvd patch! Also there is a file to fix a starforce error with Vista somewhere if I remember correctly! YES here: www.star-force.com/support/drivers

sfdrvup.exe and run it

ok

Default Starforce

Hi Rick and thanks for your reply.

I am trying to get WAC 3.1 working on vista 32 without ctd and Krabb has very kindly provided us with a 4gb_patch.zip for vista to help with this, however when I have installed it, I cant go any further as I get the message above from the starforce protection system (my game was installed via a CD where as Krabb's was a no cd game).

I am not sure where to get the no cd patch for starforce- do you have any knowledge of this?

I updated mine with the patch from starforce site as you said, but this makes no difference.

Thanks

As a representative for Ubisoft, I should at least point this out to some of you. This is mentioned in the Subsim FAQ & Rules...

-----------------------------------------------------------
What is Subsim.com's stance in relation to warez and piracy?

SUBSIM Review has a longstanding policy against software piracy. We do NOT allow discussion or even mention of warez, abandonware, peer-to-peer game swapping, illegal download sites, or rip-off websites. Nothing will get you banned faster than pointing people to illegal software distribution sites. Don't ask for serial numbers, manuals, or cracks. Any admission that you have in your possession illegal software can and usually will result in revocation of your Radio Room forum account. Support computer game programmers buy legally purchasing their work. They have to eat too, you know.
