If you take off the conning tower it looks like a big torpedo.

Thanks Karle!

After playing with the Ohio, Los Angeles and now able to play with the Virginia i kinda regret that SH5 is not a modern subsim.

Thank you for making this mod!

Just like any other nuclear US sub.

Just a suggestion for SSGNs such as the Oscar and possibly in the future the Charlie, etc.

I know that Soviet Submarines stored their SSMs in banks in the hull. My suggestion is create the appropriate number of tubes, form it so they are one shot only, and only ammo type that is loadable is the TLAM we already have and voila, there is a semi-realistic SSGN. That way you have your 'secondaries' of missile banks, plus your normal load out of anti-ship torpedos.

Cheers,

Krauter

Any news on this project (as in which ships are finished?)

Also, will it just be a release of a ship pack, or will there be tweaks to campaign and Jap ships, etc? I mean this in the way that if you launch for example a Mk48 with an effective range of 30nm and your sonar can hear 40nm, meanwhile the poor slob riding shotgun for the Jap formations can only hear 5nm... there is a big slanted table.

Now I know that these mods kind of favor you (big time.. nuclear subs vs a navy not even prepared for WW2 subs..), but will there be alterations to the Jap sensors to make up for the advanced capabilities?

Just a thought,

Krauter

Don't worry. Just because the thread drops off the front page doesn't mean the project is over.

How modern are we talking here? 1950s? 1960s? 2000s?

It would be fun to play a Cold War-era subsim where the gameplay would be that period between WWII and the Modern Era.

We can have all the Cold War equipment but we are still constrained to WWII due to hard coded issues.

And after playing months with the ohio i must say even though it's much faster, can go deeper and has better torpedo's it can't defend itself on the surface so it's a bit balanced

The Ohio has TASM rockets onboard which can be launched, maybe you should contact the one who modded the ohio? (to lighten your work that is).

One question is the virginia campaign ready?

I still have my GUPPY mod in the works. I haven't touched it in a long while, but it's a good prospect I might pick it up again and figure out what's wrong with the texture mapping

Apropos, if you want to play a "Cold War-era subsim" allow me to make promotion for my mod of a german submarine built in the early 60's: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/downloads.php?do=file&id=1435
