Anyone ever thought of haveing a monthly/yearly helosim il2 air race...

yes... I was playing around in il2 acouple of hours ago... in the pacific islands map... and thought... This (pic included at bottom.) looks kind of like a race track... so... I got an idea, what if over here at the helo sim boards we got some people together, and had a air race... well heres what I was thinking...

1 round... the P 51 race... everyone has to take the p 51d... and race against eatch other... being that everyone has the same plane, this race would be about skill... not speed...

2 round... The jet race, this race has everyone in jets.

3 round... This round is the one where everyone can fly what ever piston driven plane they want to... but theres a catch... you only have 50% fuel... which you have for all 5 laps...

4round (final round)... The live aamo race, this race it the one where you have to fight to get around, whoever gets around with there plane kind of intact. But there is one ruel about the plane you fly... it can not have cannons, to give everyboady a chance...

Ok, here are some more rules...

If you crash, you are out of that round... prepare for the next round.

everyone must line up on the lead plane at 2000m at 300kms before the race starts to keep it fair...

you cannot use modded planes, unless they came with the AAA ui 1.1.

Crashing into someone else is going to get you out of the race, unless it was an accident.

Mods...
you must have the aaa ui 1.1 mod installed, smoke, and cockpit mods are fine.

So... is anyone intrested??? oah and the pics I was talking about...

The control tower is the finnish line...

But only one issue I can see... I cannot host a server... so someone else would have to..... anyone up for it if this actualy gets enough intrest?

any thoughts... Heres an edit to the rules... The race where you choose your own plane, 50% fuel... I forgot how those high speed fighters are gas hogs...

and if your intrested, just post something here, telling me theres intrest.

Im guessing this friday, about 2 hours before the lolwaffles fly. I would like to ask jim if we could use his teamspeak if this does happen, so those with mics can use there mics.

If we do use dowlys idea of the track, marked by chimneys. would someone do it as I suck with the mission editor!

There is a I 16 cup for download at Mission4today. It has some nasty tracks and skins as well.

I can already see problem with races that are abit bigger. Those who use complex engine management all the way will win hands down and those who dont use it, will most propably quit after few races because there's no point racing against those who master the CEM.

The I16 cup races are much better for this, them being short and having clear boundaries that the racers have to stay within.

TF, here's an idea. Start your mission builder and make few F1 tracks, just place chimneys to build the track. That might be more interesting than the I16 cup races.

Just my 2 cents... ow wait, no, I need them for bier.

Hmm... dowly has a point, I know that someone pmed me about this... I asked RM what he thought and he said it sounds intresting...

so there is some intrest.

I think that this could happen sometime late this week, early next week... about an hour or 2 before the lolwaffles meet, to not have there members not be able to go the there meet.

Noooo, that is an fact. What I said about the CEM and now thinking of the I16 races, I think even those would be unfair. Some who tried them, have advantage over those who didnt. So, what we (read=you) need is completely new tracks to race in, that would be made public 1-2 days before the set race date. Naturally, the maker of the track cant race, because he knows the track better than the others.

There's so many things that are to be considered if you want to have an equal race.

hmmmm... now who is good at the mission editor... and wouldnt be attending...

we need to have the track be trickey, but not too trickey. more than just a right turn... Ill look around the web to see if there is a track... or maby I can get someone to make one and keep it to there selfs till 1 day before the race then send it out to us all..
