Default Dark fantasy movies?

Anyone know any good dark fantasy movies? Pretty sure I've seen all the
"well known" one's (Dark City, Excalibur, Heavy Metal and so on), but anyone got any
lesser known ones to recommend? Only really care about 1 thing: NO ANIME
Animated movies are fine (just saw Fire and Ice last night), tho.

One of my favorites.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0089153/

Not exactly dark fantasy, but action-adventure except set in the 1500s. High-tech weaponry such as barrels filled with gunpowder in a roller harness with a very long fuse and a war machine designed to scale castle walls. Loads of flesh, loads of blood, loads of medieval philosophy and loads of fun.

You can read the main cast in the trailer, but it also has Bruno Kirby and Nancy Cartwright (Bart Simpson). Much fun.

Myeah, saw that as well around the same time as Black Death. Very much liked it.

All the films I was going to recommend were mentioned in the comments section of the quietearth article above, except one.

The Keep (1983) - Jurgen Prochnow, Scott Glenn, Ian McKellen, Robert Prosky, Gabriel Bryne. WWII setting. One of my all time favorites. Absolute state of the art non-CGI special effects.

Young Sherlock Holmes came out in 1985 and everything went CGI after that.

Ralph Bakshi's finest, and that's saying a lot.

The first movie that came into my mind is Gothic. Not really fantasy, but very dark and surreal, also a very underrated film.

The Keep is well worth a look. Gothic is excellent as well. The Devils Advocate is probably a bit mainstream but I rate it, if nothing else for Pacino as Lucifer: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0118971/ The book was great.

Mutant Chronicles wasn't so bad either, mutants v humans in the far future with weapons dating back to WW1, weird flying machines, draconian laws, a new type of religion etc., and it has the actor Ron Perlman! Hoping they put out a MC sequel one day.
