Does Ahnenerbe have the same issues with RAOBF and tick marks on the periscopes as ARB?

G'day barnacleboy..

The best I can do is point you at a series of 4 tutorial youtube videos made by stoianm1. They're made in SH5, but use the same RAOBF model as Ahnenerbe's mod does, which is to say, the version with 2 black and 1 red marker.

The videos are rather painful to watch, as he repeats everything 3 or 4 times, instead of just making a point and moving on, and he sometimes jumps ahead of himself and/or the tutorial, so that you may need to pause at times to read everything on the screen before moving on, but despite the many flaws in presentation, it's actually a very clear explanation of how to use the RAOBF. However, it could have been a much more concise and shorter video if only he didn't repeat himself so much.

(he also makes a very silly but easy-to-make mistake with the AOB of the ship he's targeting.. watch for it!)

Here's the link to the first video.. you should be able to find the others from there.

Much as I appreciate the work you've done, Eric (it was your post that first alerted me to the problem), I decided to see if I could improve on it, and make it look more like the original.

So, for comparison, here is your corrected version:

And my reworking of it:

And a screenshot of it in-game:

Let me propose my version of AOB Rings. I use them in x6 with Ahnenerbe WideGui 1920x1080.

They are enough accurate in determining the speed, distance and AOB of targets.

Wow. Great work Stephan.

As an aside, for this wonderful mod.

It would be great if it was separated into to two JSGME packages.

1. The main mod with without RAOB finder.
2. Adding the the RAOB finder if one wants it.

That would make it convenient for choice for those that decide to assume the Hitman et al studies that those disks were not on the attack and observation scopes for boats starting around circa 1941.

Otherwise as always, this is a truly great wide screen mod.

Thanks Stephan,

i will try your RAOB rings

EDIT : Hmmm your outerdisk is the same as in this mod and the speed mark is at wrong place too. with your innerdisk, the speed mark must be in front of 24 (not 29)
