Well, it does say Helosim and flight sims in the forum name, so probably not many HAWX fans here

Hello Sledgehammer427

As far as i understood (by reading other players opinions on boards) thise is a arcade, and not a bad one. In any case i will look in my local game store for it, and after that i will give my opinion. Cheers

I rented a copy over the weekend from my local video store. It's a good looking game and I play arcade games aswell but this one held me only two hours to play.

Enemys are small markings and I must attack them first before they draw attention on me. For a jetfighter-game, it gives me no feeling of speed, unlike for example the jetplanes in Battlefield2. The potential for this game has not been exhausted, it would have be done more, even for a arcade game. So for me it is just a dull shooter game in a beautiful dress, not worth the money to buy me a copy.

Me and my best friend play Ace Combat 3-0 (still have to play 6) and we actually have a little friendly competition...i say the Falken is better, and he likes the eurofighter, so we both dogfight each other. haha.
but i just thought it was a little like Ace Combat, not CFS or IL2 with modern military jets (theres over 50 liscensed planes in HAWX)

I think this is probably a flight game for the consoles more than anything, although that's not necessarily a bad thing, I'm a big fan of the Ace Combat series, loved Five and Zero because what they lacked in sim, they made up for in story and characters.

Well, arcade flight games can be rather enjoyable if done correctly. Crimson Skies, for example, was highly arcadish but more than made up for it

Either way, I have yet to try this one, might do...somewhen

Ace Combat ftw!

I tried the HAWX demo a few weeks ago and I thought it really sucked, even for an arcade game it was bad. That stupid view change thing is just pointless, the gfx aren't that good, it's horrible to play and the most arcadey game I think I've ever seen. It's a big from me. I was looking forward to a decent new jet game, but this aint it.

HAWX is based on Ace Combat. It's an arcade version of those games...

Once you get your head around that statement, you'll understand how I feel about HAWX.

At least with Ace Combat, a f-117 would handle differently from an f-15. With HAWX it's all the same.
