I noticed this going on when I tried texturing the JB a (long) while back, everything was showing up far too dark, when I was putting in a light grey it would be way darker than that grey, I had it at almost white before I was comfortable with the shade.
I suggest plugging it into whatever program you use and lightening the texture, just flavoring it to taste. Luckily, SH4 loads much faster than SH3.

I remember waiting 30 minutes for a game to load only to have it CTD.

maybe it has to do with the AO map ? I know they are not really the same as stocks ?

I am now in my patrol area in the Arabian Sea, 4 torpedoes left... and I need to sink a minimum of 7000 t !

A big target is approaching from the northwest... A T3 Tanker !



fired two torpedoes, first aimed at the fore castle, second a bit forward of the middle.. two hits !



waiting for it to sink.. or to put a last torpedo into her !







she sinks at last !

got back to base, 21000 t sunk

didn't get a new sub after this 3rd patrol

but got this :



I can order auxiliary vessels around now !!!

4th patrol sank 2 ships for 15000 t still no new sub

5th patrol sank a small ship 1800t then stumbled across a wounded whale :



attacker escort carrier (already burning when I found her, escorted by 4 DDs including 2 Fletchers)

as per orders I fired a full spread and dove to 300 feet..





now trying to evade those DDs..



in the middle of a dc attack two DDs started firing at something over the horizon... help ?



with a little helps from my friends

got a promotion but no new ship yet.. I can now command surface units including carriers ? those big planes on the map

Went hunting for the task force in the southern part of grid LC, I just transfered to Batavia hoping to get a new boat sooner

found the task force coming in fast at 16-17 knots, got the lock, de-locked, aimed a bit in front of the bow of those fast movers and hit both Dido and Fidji, then hit the last Fidji in line




they are looking for me... but I'm already out !



checking in on the Dido I hit near the stern, looks like there's some water starting to cover the stern...



Dido eventually sank by the stern 7 miles from where she was hit

this is a very realistic sinking model

taskforce down as ordered !!!

got one more merchant with my last torp..

just one medal, no new ship

changed the end date for my kaichu to 1944 05 12 (yesterday), we'll see what gives at the end of this mission

All of the things you have or can get at each rank are papers on the desk in the "Captain's Room".

1. Scout planes from airbases
2. German Aux Cruisers (we can change the ships to Japanese)
3. Scout planes from carriers
4. German Heavy Cruisers
5. Japanese Cruisers

changed the date in the roster and upcge to 1944 05 01, came back fomr mission on May 31 1944 and kept my boat ????

patrol 9 : find and sink convoy

on my way loosened two Type 95 mod 2 torpedoes at an escorted T3 7000 meters aways :



impressive damage ! needless to say, she sank !

the convoy :

I first softened it up with an auxilliary while keeping watch with my carrier borne aircrafts overhead, they lost one ship I did too...

Then I got to the scene




crossed path with a Huge European Liner (18 k t !) and send it to the bottom with 2 Type 95 mod 2 torpedoes (1213 lbs of explosives), my favorite type of late with the Type 89 (longer reach).

I then let one more Type 95 mod 2 at a DD, and my only accosutic torpedo at another.. this torp missed that DD but came round and found one that had just DC me !!!!

sank that one too

The mod is not yet finished, as it only will be when it'll be ontegrated in the IJN campaign Climb Mount Niitaka.

But I have decided to release this version because it is much more advanced than the previous 3.7, has more subs and weapons.

I have had help from Elanaiba with the torpedoes sim file recently but that one isn't in this mod.

out of the 14 playable subs, only the Sen Toku is unfinished. So you get all the weapons and all from the 3.7 mod and more...

You now get a new Kaichu model, and the Sen Taka Fast Attack submarine too !
