Default Mission ends early

Biulding my 1st mission. It always ends within a few seconds. Any suggestions on what I'm doing wrong?

Add an objective of some kind like say sink 1000 tons of shipping or something, then the mission will not end untill the objective is complete.

I already had an objective. I'm only hunting midget subs just outside of Pearl, so I had set just a 1-ton limit to test with. I've since upped that; still quits. I changed the objective to units and specified the midget subs, then made the units 2 (the total currently in the mission); still quits after a few seconds.

I'm somewhat familiar with the SH3 builder and don't see much difference in SH4. I had already downloaded the pdf user manual from the link suggested. I don't see where I'm doing anything different than it states.

Still, I just put in patch 1.3 (the mission was created after that). Maybe it is involved, but I think I'm just overlooking something.

Can I post the mission text here and get comments?

It does seems strange doesnt it?

It could be the midget subs dont work in single missions properly maybe

Maybe posting the mission text would shed some light on your problem.

Actually, I was making an MP to play with my brother. I usually test alone, which worked fine in SH3. The mission is not far along--the stage I usually stop to test before adding other elements. One thing I didn't think to try was removing the second human-controlled sub. I did change the objective to reaching a zone on the backside of the island just to see if I could make it work.

I get this alot,not sure what causes it,has happened when I have moddify a map or re-open one to make changes,has been going on since SH3,but the dev's never fixed it.It's better to ignor a problem than fix it,I reported this problem w/SH3....

I rebuilt the mission, but made aircraft kills the primary objective, with the midget as a hidden secondary. Still stops after a couple of minutes.

This is a wierd one. I should try it on-line.

it's in your objectives that causes early ending.

it can be as simple as a the target being no longer in service after a certain date.

or a trigger is deleting your objective thereby ending mission.
