Default I am missing a Scale modelling and RC thread, so here it is.

Hello all !

I have searched SH5 but could not find any scale modelling/RC topic.

So I decided to make one. There must be people out there who are,
like me, avid scale modellers as well as RC buffs.

So this topic is for you, to discuss Sub modelling in all it's varieties.

feel free to post images of your work.

My new project (one year give or take) just arrived :

Where was this Griffon kit when I started mine 4 years ago?!?!?!?! It didn't exist, that's where.

All I have left is to mate the turm to the hull, craft a flakveirling the size of a dime, final paint and finish work.

Le sigh...

The modeling forum is here: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/forumdisplay.php?f=186

It has been lumped in with a bunch of other topics.

Are you making a specific boat or just the generic kit with the Griffon kit added?

If you are going for accuracy, the Revel kit is best, but still has MANY flaws.

Thank you for that link !

Yea Griffon is quite new but very expensive sadly.

I will make a boat which was succesful. Revell chose to show boats which were not succesful as well as one which was sunk all hands lost.

So I guess I will check out U-boat.net for one.

The 1/72 scale one is also still on my wishlist though, maybe to make RC.

Pity the CMK interior sets are high priced. And Trumpeter now comes with a 1/48 scale sub including interior but that is about 400 Euros. So I guess I will later get the 1/125 scale Revell with (VERY BAD) interior....

However ! I discovered what they based that interior on !!! The movie "The enemy below" hahahahaha.

I have a few 1/700's coming in soon as well as a U-boat pen bunker kit.

But that is not all I build though. I also fly RC.

By the way, if you need 1/144 U boat crew check here :

That's because we have a special forum just for those topics, separate from the computer games forums.

Moved.

Hey Sailor Steve! can U resurrect that one thread with really good paint rust and wear job VII photos? The model was also a Revell and the work was instructive and simply outstanding-I believe u had resurrected it on that occasion as well.

Do you mean this one? If that's not the one I can't think of any others.

[edit] Oh, great, he's taken down most of his pictures.

[edit 2] Wait! here's his own site. You can click on the different years and see most of his steps.

[edit 3] To follow it from the beginning you need to scroll to the bottom and keep clicking on "Older Posts" until you get there. It's worth it.

Here is another EPIC thread from Britmodeler

What this guy does to the 1/72 Revell boat is stunning. Especially the photos at the end of the topic where he shows you how to dent the hull are magnificent as is the weathering video !

Cannot wait to use chipping medium on my boat

http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/i...u-boat-revell/

It will help a lot, also with weathering.
