Default GWX3 Enhanced Damage Effects Don't Work?

Howdy.

Been playing a bit for the past few days in GWX3 with the Enhanced Damage Effects optional mod enabled and I've torped quite a few ships in the mean time and don't really see a difference in damage effects. Maybe I'm blind, but I don't see the oil slicks or anything that seems additional apart from the stock SHIII effects. Am I missing something or do these not work?
