PM Theresa May has struck a last minute deal with the EU in a bid to move Brexit talks on to the next phase.
There will be no "hard border" with Ireland and EU citizens in the UK, and UK citizens in the EU, will see their rights protected.
The so-called "divorce bill" will amount to between £35bn and £40bn, the BBC understands.
The European Commission president said it was a "breakthrough" and he was confident EU leaders will approve it.

Looks like common sense has eventually prevailed....both sides had so much to gain and too much to lose.

I always knew it would be like this

Fat chance, the EU has walked over the UK and old bag May let them. We are going to remain in the EU back door. And I am not the only one who has picked up on this.

I fear if more Vote Leave voters see this they will vote old JC into No.10 as a protest against May, if that happens we are screwed big time.

*in before the triple post*

If the UK had a meaningful and serious opposition we would have a much stronger negotiating hand but the truth is, the opposition is even more divided than the governing party and the leader of said opposition is actually extremely anti-EU.

Voters can use the next general election to have their say on a final Brexit deal, Michael Gove has said.

Problem is a percentage will vote Labour just to stick it to Mrs May as they are the only party stands a chance. Trouble is without thinking first Labour could slip in and oh my what have i done sinks in.

And yet on the other hand the Tories could loose just on the grounds the voter wants change as they have ran out of steam.

In my life time I don't recall a party winning four in a row.

Brexit: May's EU deal not binding, says David Davis

Brexit Secretary David Davis has described the deal struck by Theresa May to move to the next phase of Brexit talks as a "statement of intent".

He said it was not "legally enforceable" and if the UK failed to get a trade deal with the EU then it would not pay its divorce bill.

The biggy for me is the fact there will be no cash until a trade deal is concluded.

Rebellion threat to EU Withdrawal Bill

The government is facing the threat of a defeat by rebel backbenchers when MPs vote on its flagship EU legislation.
Led by former Attorney General Dominic Grieve - a Conservative MP - the rebels want to insert a legal guarantee that MPs should get a vote on any final Brexit deal before it is finalised.
The amendment, which will be backed by Labour, will be debated later.
