Default Sub vs Sub

Ive just got the U boat missions update but havnt had much of
a chance to check it out yet.
I was just wondering if it is possible to play a multiplayer game,
I had a two player LAN gane in mind , with one player as an
american sub and the other as a U boat.
Is this possible?
is there a prefab mission allready there for this?
and if not is anybody working on any missions of this type or
would some sort of mod be needed to play each countries subs in the same mission.

Could someone please explain the current situation to me.

Thanks

Stu

I have viewed this thread. I have no comment. Well, I was gonna make a joke about the title making me think of spy vs. spy, but then I decided not to.

I'm sorry.

I have no clue if this can be done or not. I don't see why it shouldn't be possible, would certainly be a lot of fun. And a big challenge.

*edit* god how long do I have to look at this football player reject medic avatar?

To answer the ORIGINAL QUESTION: I don't believe you can do a Sub vs. Sub game as i've heard there is no U-Boat multiplayer and there weren't any sub-based ASW weapons in WWII anyway (Not that I heard of...)

There were many instance's of Sub v. Sub mostly surface engagements,
using normal torpedo's. some misses some success' and possibly a good counter attack or two.

There is an instance of a Brit Sub sinking a submerged
uboat in the atlantic with shots taken based solely on hydrophone bearings.
the name escapes me at the moment but it will likely show up later in the
thread from someone:hmm:?

Also although the nineteen inch homer was too slow there were
several German acoutstic's that would suffice for the task.
within certain depth limits. But technical development was active
on all side's it seems to me that had the typeXXI gone mainstream
that the allies would have been compelled to make deep diving homers,
which I feel weren't beyond there technical capability.

a towed array wasnt that big a leap either.

I think it would be fun. It would be interesting to have a simgle player mission
with maybe the american sub having an objective while a U boat is opperated by
the second player assisting the AI in preventing the american boat from achieving
its objective. It would definatly be interesting with the U boat commander having
the ability to direct AI assets and could produce a harder and more exciting game.

For the record I play brit and canadian subs regularly

its a matter of putting what sub you want into the game
right.

its doable.

select mp mission choose
put in two player subs of two different types.
make sure that each country is the only country
with the specified sub type. make sure the countries
are enemies (not truly necessary other than for immersion
you can still blow each other up in co op mp.)

adversarial mp will take off once we have some decent
driveable escorts.

Funny , I was just looking at the mission editor and noticed
that there is a player controllable box that can be ticked on
the german sub. So now I just need to do a bit of experimenting.

Ps
thanks for your encouragement. Ive been getting the vibe that
some people find this type of game play in the "fantasy" realms
and are reluctant to provide usefull comments.
