AH I stand corrected.. Even though it clearly says 0/0 ammo, if you have enough crew members manning it, it will reload correctly.

I didn't have enough people manning it.. Yay! Thanks guys. sorry for the false alarm..

Gday fellas,

Cruising out of St Nazaire this morning i stumbled across a strange sight. Manning the AA guns mounted on the sub pens was a helmet floating in mid air. I dont know if its been spotted before or what, but i thought id bring it to your attn. As i understand no more content changes are being made to 1.04, which is fine, and its not as though the issue affects gameplay or anything else. Its actually the first thing i've noticed out of place since using GWX...

Cheers

Sometimes that happens
Harbours are a big graphics draw and something has to give
Tis usually the crewmen on the guns

Not something I have seen but bears checking out

Well like i said, i only stumbled across it by chance, and given as normally you dont get to see on the roof of the pens anyways, i hardly deem it a problem. as far as im concerned, ships are much more important than gunners who you will very rarely if ever see doing anything..

Default AI guns!

Me again!

Sorry to ask that, I know I have seen this before but I can´t seem to find it again.
It´s about the AI Guns.
I think they are way to precise (shooting from 3000m and way beyonde and almost every shot a hit?), even in bad weather! I think thats not very realistic (even the range is, but the acurracy?). I mean take for e.g your U-Boat Crew, ok you start with an unexpirienced crew and the platform (your U-Boat) lies much less stabile in the wate than a common warship. But in my opinion the Enemys are way too good.
I can remeber that I once saw a documentation about the battle with the Hood and the Bismark. I don´t know exactly how far away they were, but it was at rough sea. The Hood (which was older) had no chance against the Bismark. It was a new generation Battleship with Zeis Optik aiming system, which was uniqe at this time. I think you get what my point is! There were not many ships at that time that could shoot that precise at this distance (the smaller the vessel the smaller the accuracy!).

So how do you explain that precision in your mod (sounds a bit harsh, but isn´t intended so at all, don´t get me wrong, just an observation)?

My first thought was to change the "Max error angle" from 3 to 5 in the sim.cfg. But maybe you could help me where to find the gun behaivior for the ships and the AI rating for the different levels (rookie, veteran etc.).
I just want to chang the gun accuracy thats all.

Thanks for any answer in advance.

Greetz

Hi again Dr. Zod.

I'm about to leave for work so I can only give you a short answer.

In stock SH3 the guns were far far more "laser guided" in behavior. Every gun in GWX has been "destabilized" to at least produce a measure of inaccuracy.

If you have enabled any mods that replace GWX gun files... those destabilization fixes have been disabled.

We've done what we could for the guns. If they are further "destabilized" they can fail to fire altogether.

Ok I see!

I play only GWX and SH3 Commander.
Maybe it was just my imaginiation or a damn good crew! Now that I know that you added some destabilization to it I´m kinda satisfied.

Thanks anyway.

P.S. Have fun at work :p

Well yeah, since I recently installed SH3 new I did the Training in stock. Until i recalled there was a grey wolve mod.
And in the final mission (convoy atack) you could even fight surfaced against the destroyer and the escort ship with the deck gun (which was very unrealistic by the way). They weren´t very accurat at all even on a short distance (up to 2000m).

Oh...I don't know about that. I can recall not too far back when we were testing MP missions (Iceland or Reykjavik)....you started surfaced about 500 metres from either the BB Anson or Howe

Hello again!
This time I have a small question about enemy destroyers. Do they have unlimited supply of depth charges? Or is it possible that they run out of ammo?
Thanks.

They do run out... eventually. if you ahve a freshly spawned DD late war they could be armed with up to 300 odd of the buggers!
