Default Welcome aboard!

SrgtTurk! I see the the infamous seven-year-itch has brought you to the surface, finally, after a long 'silent running' since 2017!

The IX's were ordered out of the primary Battle of Atlantic theater to safer areas. 'Money (DeutchMarks) is the sinews of war' and the cost of IX's unable to function with their intended 33% increased eel-firepower is a violation of that principle both tactically and strategically.

I agree with that sentiment - I suspect that they just ran out of time and money after creating full Type VII interiors. I really enjoyed playing Type IX careers in "Aces of the Deep" - and I, too, sorely miss having a Type IX in SH5. I would have even been happy with just the control room and no full interior. I strongly disagree with people who pan the Type IX as too big and unmaneuverable for Atlantic warfare - they were capable boats until the end of the war.

Work had been undertaken on this project... I don't remember by which talented modder... I suppose the project was stopped by the phenomenal amount of work that it represented... plus this game seems really difficult to mod...
