Default NYGM wolfpacks

I notice on the splash screen of the latest version of this mod, it mentions wolf packs.
Are they part of the NYGM package, or do I have to install Hsie's patch too to enable the wolfpack mod ?
I notice the single mission labeled wolfpack only appears with Hsie's patch installed.

Yes you can have wolfpacks but if you don’t know how to write scripts I suggest you leave it alone!

It’s not just h.sie you have to write the uboat into a script.

It’s separate from h.sie.

It takes a bit to do, and can damage the campaign if done wrong. Wolf packs are very rare, so you don’t see them very often. But when they do appear it is quite remarkable. But again don’t do it if you don’t know what you’re doing! It’s fun to see their periscopes pop up!

Thanks. So, it's different than following his instructions in the patch ? Fun game, but being new to it, I'm finding some of the mods are for things AOD had stock !?

Correct. h.sie is a patch and the Wolfpack’s are basically an instructional manual to rewrite the game script.

Ok, thanks again. So the "with wolf packs" sentence on the NYGM splash screen can be ignored then ?
Sorry for the questions; I'm just trying to clearly understand if NYGM comes with wolf packs when you install NYGM, or not, and if not, why the splash screen item ?

Love to have wolf packs. Oh well, thanks. Think I just ran into a bug. Running latest version of NYGM, no other mods. Intercepted/waiting for a convoy in the campaign, 1940.
Got depth charged at scope depth, and strafed on the surface, but no boat, plane, etc. anywhere around.
Tracers coming at me just above the water surface out of thin air.

Everything should be ready for wolfpacks in NYGM. Just patch sh3.exe and install Supplement to V16B1 with jsgme and shadow on...

Just the parts of NYGM listed as "essential" downloaded from this site.

http://www.subsim.com/mods1/nygm/ First four files. I tried installing Hsie's patch, ran the two tests mentioned in the instructions. Passed the O2 test, but told to individually attack six times on the wolfpack test.
That's what prompted my question.

That's what usually happens. Getting radio message means you're on right track...

Ah, ok. In the instructions, it says if you're repeatedly told to attack alone, the install didn't work.
I also have it with GWX, and I got the "making wolfpack" type messages instead.
I'll try installing it again.

Ok, some questions about applying Hsie's and Stieblers patches.

1. I applied Hsie's patch to the s3.exe from my NYGM install.
2. Per Stiebler's patch directions, I did not use the Option Selector on this exe, but instead copied it to the folder I had Stiebler's patch files in.
3. I then patched this exe file with the patch.bat found in Stiebler's folder.
4. I then ran the Options Selector in Stiebler's folder.
- at this step, do I first apply the options I want from the Hsie part of the Options Selector, since they haven't been done yet per #2 above, and after that then apply the options I want from the Stiebler's part of the Options Selector ? And then close the Option Selector all together after that ?
5. I then placed the exe file in Stiebler's add on folder, to use with JSGME.
6. At this stage I have the Supplement folder from Hsie's patch and the Add on folder from Stiebler's patch in my mods folder of NYGM.
7. Using JSGME, do I then add Hsie's supplement folder first and then Stiebler's add on folder next ? I assume so, since the exe file in Stiebler's would be the last patched.
8. What about the "Extra file for Hsie' patch" folder in NYGM ? Is that installed via JSGME and if so, when ? It's instructions say after the NYGM 2017 file is installed (which I have installed), but at what step in relation to Hsie's supplement folder and Stiebler's add on folder ?

Hope this makes sense.
