Default Returners Stupid Questions Thread

Hi folks.

Not been around for a while. Even when I was, it was sporadically; with SH3.

One of the reasons I drifted away was the dogma around when best to save games with SH3, due to instability. My work routine changed, I couldn't get long to play in one sitting, and I really needed to save whilst in the middle of engagements or near contacts. SH3 didn't like any of that stuff, in my experience.

So that leads me to my first stupid question. Does SH5 with WoS allow those types of saving conditions??

Second stupid question is - regarding SH5 WoS; I seem to remember reading a while ago you navigate your way around the boat to go to different stations. Can't you hot key around the stations?? I think I'd lose patience having to walk around.

Thanks people.

Hi,

In SH5 you have to avoid saves near action and harbors unfortunately ... it can gives troubles on loading saves.

You can teleport to stations if you don’t want to walk.

Hope that helps

It did help, thank you.

Looks like a non-starter for me :-(

I don't mind pausing a game for a day instead of saving, but I can be a week between playing.

That's a shame.

I've also just read about a weather bug upon restarting save games too.

Ah well.

Thank you.

Same here...In 99% of cases everything is OK. In harbors it's 100% OK actually. However, spare "clean" gamesave is always recommended...

Oh, ok. That's positive.

Has the weather bug after reloading a save been resolved??

You mean weather shifts after gamesave loading?
But to be completely honest, if you value more gamesave and weather mechanics than the M4 Enigma, Real Navigation or similar "geeky" stuff, I don't think you'll like the mod anyway...

Cheers!

Well, the stability of save games are kinda fundamental to me, for reasons outlined in the first post.

I don't see how weather can't be termed fundamental either.

In comparison, an Enigma and real nav are "nice to haves", but hardly fundamental to a sub sim.

In my opinion, that is.

Best.

I would suggest - you play SH4.
There is none of your explained problems.

I couldn't disagree more...One thing I couldn't stand in all SH games is a GPS on a WW2 submarine which works with 100% accuracy even at 200m bellow the surface ?! That's why TDW's Real Navigation is THE best and THE most important addon mod ever developed for any SH game. IMO, that is...

VDR you hit the nail on the head with that one.

From the time when I first started SH to now, the graphics have improved I will agree. But, it is the depth of self immersion you can attain and enjoy, with a dose of satisfaction added, as a bonus when using SH5 and TWoS today.
