Default freighters and troop transports

Hey guys.

Let me start by telling you guys how much im loving learning and developing my skills with the use of this fantastic community here at subsim.com

Ive got a question for you aces out there.

Its my 2nd patrol in a S class sub and im having difficulty locating troop transports. My objective is too sink one and also cant find freighters. Its may 19th 1942 and im currently heading north through makassar strait towards celebes sea. I plan to bypass sulu sea through china sea and try my luck over at luzon strait and formosa strait by taipei.

Any ideas

Cheers

When asking questions it is important to list your game version and mods list in order to get more detailed and accurate responses.

Some mods will populate better and more accurate shipping traffic making hunting them down a bit easier.

Welcome! From what I have read, that is a good place to look. It does depend upon your mod set-up

What version you use of TMO will be dictated by the Version of the game your playing. TMO is written for 1.4 and 1.5 with or without RSRD.

What is your GAME version?

Welcome aboard, Dambuster!

If you use RSRDC, you should be sent to an appropriate area. That does not mean that it is easy to locate targets, or that you will always have plenty, but searching and waiting are part of the game.

I think your going to enjoy what TMO and RSRD have to offer. RSRD's traffic and battle movements make game play much much better. TMO bring a great deal to the game in helping to model better sensor and operational performance.

Sounds like you're based in Australia. Those guys were famous for micro-managing their sub captains and sending them to barren wastelands to patrol for.......lobsters, I guess.

Pearl Harbor was more freewheeling, sending subs to large patrol areas with few specific instructions on how to conduct business. This fostered a more freewheeling, personal initiative driven patrol style. If a sub came back once without any score, it was sent out again. The second empty patrol the captain was sent to other opportunities. Aggresive captains loved the system. Timid ones applied for transfer to Australia.

Especially with a sugar boat you are very much a prisoner of your assigned area. There are some very productive areas under Australia's control. Hope you get sent to one of them. And remember contacts are difficult to develop in the best of areas. What's your hunting strategy?

You know, there's always more action than you can handle at Rabaul!

My hunting style.

Well at the moment i am hunting in close at night. 110ft ft submerged untill i get within 1200 yards from my target. Go periscope up as im hidden in the dark and launch torpedos from 700yards out.crash dive then return the night after

The Mk 14 torpes are way better. Ive started the second objective
And its my second patrol and just sunk ship 4
RDRSC is great.

I can notice it s improvents

The Makassar Strait and entrances to the Sulu Sea can be very lucrative hunting grounds. The choke points are easy to cover with an S boat.
