Default Source for SH5 Version 1.2

I want to buy a non-Steam SH5, version 1.2 so that I can add TWos without too much trouble. There are so many ads for SH5 online but none specify the version. I'm willing to give up my first born son, and my 1/72 Type VIIC and 1/72 Type IX models for it. Well... maybe just my first born son. Please help me if you can.

Default Available at Store???

I went to the Subsim store and thought I'd ordered the boxed SH5 only. Surprise!! I received a boxed set of SH5 and two other CDs with Cliffs of Dover and another flight sim. Turns out the included SH5 CD was the 5(1.0.0) version. Useless for my intent. And, I got to pay about $79 bucks for the ride!!! (I already had Cliffs of Dover...)

Though I had uninstalled the other SH5 from the control panel, apparently something remained on my PC because a manual setup of the "new" CD resulted in an alert that a later version (the one I'd just "uninstalled") was already installed.

So, how do I obtain a copy of the game that will allow me to add the fantastic mods I'm reading about?

While the non-Steam game may be hard to find nowadays, this is not true for the Patch 1.2.0. So if you have version 1.0 of the game (which everyone does when having the DVD-PC version) the question is: Can you patch it? With a non-Steam the most likely answer is: YES. So you should do fine with a non-Steam 1.0.

Here is 1 among the first google results:

Thanks Bstanko6!! I cleaned up my old folders, ran CCleaner to clear the registry, and reloaded the dick version. Indeed, it automatically updates. This must be an off day. The autorun fails regardless of where I launch the game: disk or from the SH5 icon in the UBI folder on my C:drive. At least I'm a little closer to getting this up.

I appreciate all your inputs. Any other hints about fixing this (possible) last issue?

Default Up and Running!

I managed to get TWoS up first try. I don't have words for the work this community has done. Even the spray coming up through the deck casing! Just beautiful. I'm currently doing sea trials off Memel (did I get that right?) and will begin studying the new controls, etc. I suspect learning to navigate without the simple mouse work I'm accustomed to would be a good thing, rather than trying to feel my along the coastline. Thanks for the great help so far fellows. What a great game!!
