When the game starts walk down the ladder.

Use the T key and teleport somewhere.

Click off the map before using teleport.

Do a manual save on the bridge before ending the game.

Do not save submerged.

Not the best first post I've come across.

Acceptable language & graphics, topic spamming
Please use language that you would use around your mother. No vulgarities, obscenities, hate speech, or foul language. Do not use *******ing w*rds with aster*cks, that's the same thing as vulgar languge. Express yourself with respect to others.
No graphic images of people murdered, blown up, dismembered, or similarly ripped up. If you must, you can use a link to the image and include the warning "Graphic image warning".

No pornography at all. This is an instant ban offence. Any images with nudity are prohibited. Images in swimsuits or original war-era art are ok, as long as there is not any clear nudity. Always stay on the conservative side if you have any doubt. This forum is family safe.

Please do not engage in "topic spamming", where you post several threads on the essentially the same topic in a short period of time. If you want to discuss women's synchronized swimming, fine; start a topic on it. But don't start another topic on women's synchronized swimming clothing, women's synchronized swimming schedules, etc. for several weeks. Same goes with threads on politics, religon, and cultural issues. We don't need six threads on "Obama is ruining America" and eight topics on "Arabs are Evillll!" on the same page.

Default Journal Editor

Hi all!

I've spent the last couple of hours or so trawling through this thread and others trying to find a way to open my journals in the journal editor with 7.4.2.

Everything about the journal seems to work in game, I've been able to change my hull number and name and when I first opened the editor and created then saved a journal to start my new game it worked fine. However, when I've tried to open it in the editor, either through the game or in the editor itself it just tells me "unable to read ship's journal file" followed by the file path. I've seen a couple of posts about changing the date format and so on, that seemingly had no effect. I've tried opening it with the mods both enabled and disabled.

Apologies if this has already been answered and I've missed it!

Post #24 Shaefer’s Season 2 Let's Play Silent Hunter 5 YouTube Videos

It is such a long time ago since I have used journals that I cannot now remember how it works.

Maybe this might help?

Thanks for the welcome, Berbster! Thank you for taking the time to have a look around for me but unfortunately that thread doesn't mention how to get around the issue I'm having.

Everything about the journal feature seems to work for me except opening them in the editor. The only solution I have found posted is to change your system's date format as the editor has trouble reading anything other than mm/dd/yyyy. I tried this myself but it didn't seem to make any difference.

Thanks again for any help you can give me!

Hi KON

For some reason in the back of my mind I thought it opened from the main menu.

When set up Journal is added to the menu?

Is it not set up from one of the subs ships journal buttons?

I am only guessing it was such a long time ago.

In the OFEV it shows 3 items activated.

Peter

Yeah it can be clicked on in the main menu of the game, which opens the editor.

I don't know if there's other ways of setting one up but I create a new one in the editor, save it, then when I load up the game it's displayed on the main menu. Then whether I click on it in the main menu of SH5 or try to open it in the editor itself, it just tells me it's unable to read the file. Oh and I'm a bit of a nub, I'm not sure what OFEV is.

Default Crosshair?

This is a little thing but I would prefer to have the center screen crosshair enabled but I cant seem to figure out how to do it. Note I am not talking about the binocular one but the regular one that a lot of people don't like.
