SHO DCS: A-10C; will it run on this??

Hi, I recently bought a laptop, here wondering if it will run DCS A10 on it.
Specs:
intel i7 3rd gen 2300mhz-3610QM
8gb ddr3 ram
1tb hdd 5000+ rpm
6mb L3 cache
Windows 7 x64
GeForce GT630M

If the processor isn't fast enuff I will OC It to 3300mhz

A fast reply will be great!
Thanks,
Yamato_NF
PS: I would also like to know if it will work with black shark 2

It runs fine on my core2duo 2.93 mHz, 4 gig of DDR800, and GTX560Ti (and GTS250 before).

I know nothing of the 630m, I'm guessing it's a laptop 'card', and this could be the downfall.

Did some research on this 630m, decent card from the reviews, 600 some MHz clock speed, can go up to 1ghz tho,
And yes it's a laptop card
PS also has 1gb gddr3 and 94 shader blocks, 128 bit memory

Think Spike was always running it from a laptop, so I suppose it's doable (untill it overheats ). Got to echo Herr B's sentiment though: it's a laptop card so I wouldn't expect too much of it.

The whole thing is pretty scalable though. Knock the viewdistance down a notch, turn down some details, shouldn't be holding you back too much. It's more likely to be CPU bound.

After some critical thinking, I'm going to run a benchmark on the new laptop as soon as I get it... I read reviews on it and it seems like a decent gaming pc/laptop... Plus I can Overclock the 3rd gen i7 to 3.2 ghz which will expand its feasibility. I am also thinking of buying a 17 inch laptop dock... Any suggestions??

I have used this site several times and appears to be accurate and legitimate
Though I wish I had bothered to check it before I bought DCS-A10 and discovered I could not run it

Can you run it is quite accurate, but occasionally it doesn't understand you've got a quad or dual core system. I came across another good, similar site the other day but can't remember it now, I'll digg around on the PC later.

Just to note: DCS World can be had for free, so you can see how it performs generally. The more complex cockpits of the A-10 and Ka-50 do tend to push the framerate down a bit.

I did the same thing. There is a brand new unplayable copy of SH5 sitting on my shelf at home.

Be very careful overclocking a laptop. Even 'gaming' laptops have substandard heat control compared to desktops, and all laptops have a tendency to hit high temps due to a: lack of cooling/airflow and b: positioning (i.e. using on a bed, on your lap - basically anywhere there's low or no airflow underneath the unit.

Check any overclock with Prime95 for stability and heat, and watch it like a hawk until you're certain you're not overheating the chips.

Also, the BIOS tends to be very limited. You can probably bump it to run it's max 1-core turbo speed by default (disable turbo boost though) without touching voltage, but beyond that it's tricky if you don't have that control.

Never, ever touch the base clock (BCLK). Ever.

Actually, what options does it have for overclocking? Pretty sure it doesn't have a (fully) unlocked multiplier. Don't even know how it works on locked CPUs.

You mean on laptops I assume? Fine to mess with it on desktops, as long you (mostly) know what you're doing & have the heat control to back it up.

Er, no, just in general. You don't touch it because it increases all clocks across the board: CPU, RAM, PCI-E, etc.

You won't get more than a few MHz out of it anyway, making it completely ineffective.

* to clarify, this is an issue specifically with Sandy/Ivy Bridge since Intel tied the PCI-E frequency into the base clock directly. PCI-E does not like running much above 100MHz.

Btw I have 32 gigs of mSSD acceleration cache, will this help?

@arclight, the Laptop I'm getting has a mobo PLL, all I have to do is open it and find the PLL ID then plug it into CPU CooL or clockgen... Then crank up the heat
