Heading out to the runway with Raptor

Schroeder and Hunter meet the first of the AAA trucks

I found another one, but either missed it with my bomb or by the time I got to it Arclight had already killed it. Either way no kill credit.

Hunter takes a few rounds in his engine and heads back to base, Schroeder shadows him expectantly.

But Schroeder is suddenly called away as the main enemy base has suddenly grown a SAM launcher which takes out Raptor

Meanwhile Hunter puts down in an...interesting location...

A short while later though it all goes very wrong...

Shot down behind enemy lines by...erm... unexpected enemy resistance, I must face capture by the enemy or risk being rescued by...the Wagnermobile...

Couldn't you land closer? This flight suit is heavy!

Three hours later...

Alright, let's roll...uhm...

Why aren't there normal chairs? Is there a movie on this flight? Where's the flight attendant?

Are the rotors supposed to be this close...aaaaaaaah!

Well, at least there's a free haircut.

Screw this. Next time I'm taking Aeroflot...

There were two flight attendants in the cabin!
Bubba even put on his lipstick and eye liner!

Some people are just ungrateful!

Raptor sets off loaded for bear...and elk...and bison, lions, tigers, elephants, small moons...

Slowly making our way to the target area

Raptor drops two Mk-84s on the enemy camp

The explosions are quite satisfying

I drop a couple of small fire-crackers, one on a AAA position and one on a bunker.

Just a few grabs while tinkering with the MiG-21;

Emergency procedures: Gear borked; Call roadside assistance. Main gear failures not covered.

Fun little thing. Started it from a checklist once, Raptor explained weapons deployment once. Pretty simple to get going.

Looks fun, apart from the dodgy gear. Haven't flown in ages.

I've been meaning to pick up the Huey for a while. One of these days DCS will have a sale and I'll actually have some spare income at the same time.

The Huey is fun to fly (once you get the hang of it as it is also pretty difficult at first and anything but stable) if a bit useless in actual combat. If your opponent has anything that might remotely be classified as AAA you have to stay far away. However it's next to immune to small arms fire. It will only knock out your radio and some instruments but will never shoot you out of the sky or kill the pilot (at least it has never happened to me and I've been hit by thousands of bullets...no joke.).

Yes, I must admit I love the idea of flying something like the Huey, the Black Shark is a good helicopter, but it has a lot of electronic aids. The Huey sounds a lot more hands on and tactile. Plus it sounds bloody awesome.

I wouldn't mind the Sabre either, but I hear that she's not quite as detailed as the 21 and Huey. The Hawk might be one that I'll look at too, although it's only really been used as a trainer in the RAF.

Oh, you'll be missing the Sharkie's AP channels after a while of flying the Huey.

Fun chopper to fly, but can get a bit exhausting.

Trim, trim some more and trim again. Each time you do something to the collective. But it's rewarding to make that thing behave. I still can't hover precisely at a given altitude but at least I can pick up sling loads (at least most of the time... and don't ask about delivering them in one peace...).
What annoys me is that we are still lacking multiplayer crews on it, can't see what's inside the cabin (passengers, cargo) and that the AI gunners are obviously high on something as they can't shoot straight. Bloody useless.
Another thing is that no one should spawn or use a big weapons if any Huey has a sling load. Otherwise the lag will desync the Huey and the sling load and that WILL tear the chopper apart if it doesn't jettison the load pretty much immediately. Which makes that feature bloody useless again on any public server.

And last there is surprisingly little stuff for it to download regarding missions and campaigns.
