Default SFK42 Screen Resolution Trouble - Menu

When I first run Steel Fury K42, it starts to load fine, but when the progress bar gets to 12% the resolution drops and the menu loads, showing me only the upper left corner of the screen. I can see the word "Menu" and the background of picture of a tank.

I can't access any of the buttons or pan the screen in any way.

I manually edited the resolution in the config file and still have the same problem.

My version is the unofficial 0.1 patch and I've tried the widescreen patch.

I'm using an ATI HD 5700

Thanks in advance.

It sounds like it might be a video-driver problem, try updating the drivers for the graphics card,

Default Resolution

An ATI 5700????Never heard of that one?Unless you mean HD 5770? What in game screen resolution do you use?Whatr is your monitor's screen resolution? Have you tried tinkering with both?Lowering or adjusting the screen res until you get the size you like? I have an ATI HD 5670 and I had to uncouple the game res from my monitor res(uncheck the desk resolution option in game' s video settings menu.

From the sound of it, you've resolved the problem already?

No I still have the problem. I can't access the game's video options menu because of the way the screen gets skewed.

I've tried tinkering with every kind of desktop resolution I can think of. I'm at a loss

Have you tinkered with the refresh rate? Maybe its something the monitor can't handle?

I've tried 60, 70, 75, and 0 as the input values.

It seems to be some kind of resizing doctirne going on after thje program loads.

Is there a way to run the entire program windowed? Thanks for your continued interest in helping me solve this everyone.

By the way, have you updated your video drivers and installed DirectX 9.0?
As recommended by Graviteam.

Default Main settings

That was my next suggestion. In the game main settings menu you have the desk resolution box which I mentioned before.Try to see if it's ticked(checked) or not?Otherwise unlike some other sims there's no wide screen or window display option that I know of.I just remember a guy who had thta problem a long time ago and solved it by going into some game folder and adjusting something and it workd for him.ILL have to see if I can find that post.Check the older threads on this forum as others have had the same issue and may be you can find solutions others than mine if it does not work out for you?
Cheers

I haven't been able to resolve it yet, even with drivers updated etc.

I can't access anything in the game. The menu loads up fine but I only see the top right hand corner of it (blown up to fit the whole screen). I can't click on anything in the game. (even to exit I have to use alt-f4)

hmmmm. try taking the game icon.

right click, properties, go to compatibility, then hit the box marked run in 640X480.

see if that works. if not, check the games root folder and see which .exe's are there, make sure those are all rinning in 640x480 too, and see if that will make it so you can see the whole screen and make resolution adjustments there

Default config encfg folder

Pillar I think you can modify or verify your in game screen resolution and various contrast, brightness and other visual features. Open you game main folder, go to data/k42/loc_rus/config/ config_encfg(open that one with notepad or word)and inside under the i_render:render() you"ll find what res and other features is your game set at.I have posted mine from my SF laptop install as refence below.Check what your numbers are and modify them as required and save the changes and start your game to see if it makes a difference.Cheers!
