It's something like you need 8 points to need to activate again, if you're upgrading it is something like, 4 points for RAM change, 8 points for a new mobo or processor and a few other things that escape me.

It is Star-Force, but not as we know it.

Just finishing d/l of DCSW now, seems a lot quicker now. Must remember to install it all before I try and play.

Aye, something that tracks hardware changes. 1 activation per machine and such. Iirc you can swap out the graphics card without issue, but a different motherboard or CPU and you'll need to reactivate. Similar system to Windows actually.

* to clarify, the point system relates to keeping track of hardware changes. Components are given a score and if there's too many changes from the hardware profile it was activated on, you need another activation.

Installed A-10 and Black Shark on the new machine - I had bought them but never installed them due to hardware limitations of the previous hamster.

Plugged in new HOTAS - that I haven't had time to set up.

Start -> Eagle Dynamics -> DCS World

*two minutes later*

1. Set up your HOTAS, and learn it.
2. Start>ED>DCSW>A-10C module>tutorials

Two minutes later:

Read the manual, watch youtube tutorials, try again.

Two minutes later:

Reconfigure HOTAS as you didn't learn it a la step 1.

Try again. Randomly click buttons in the cockpit until something happens. Watch more youtube tutorials contradicting the first lot.

Welcome to DCSWorld.

It is great when you get the hang of it, but don't expect to be an A* pilot out the box.

Well, I tried again just before I headed out to work, managed to take off, circle around, do a couple of aerobatic maneuvers and set up to land before the z-axis problem started. So will take some more looks at it tomorrow.

Love the look of the mission Yamato, I'll probably take Dodge flight, try and GBU-38 the bridge.

Of course, I've got to get it all working and then relearn how to drop them, IIRC I'm not too bad with CCRP, got to brush up on CCIP a bit though, and Mavs, once I get Windows for Warthog configured properly, are fairly easy.

@Tchocky,
ive started flying the Hog without the training wheels a week ago, and im already pretty adept (that is, no easy comms, real avionics, real Flight model etc.) just go through the training missions, then brush up on things in Single player, i personally had trouble with GBU-12/10s falling 10 feet ahead of my target. easily remedied by using the NWS for the laser
and flying level while keeping in sights with CCRP.

but try to get used to the radios, as you will be using the MIC switch alot for comms... and the panels for channel switching.

anyway,
ive almost completed the mission ive been building. and i never read the effin GUI manual and i have a good grasp of triggers... (or so i hope...)
@Archlight,
whens our next meet?
perhaps you guys could join me and a bunch of other guys at reddit.com/r/hoggit/ ?

ive stumbled on these guys, and they're really helpful, great starting point for a newbie.
we also do alot of unorganized training sessions, feel free to drop in our TS aswell, TS3 is: hoggit.us

like i said, these guys are great pilots, and fun to fly with!

Hrm, Thursday? Not gonna be in a condition to fly tonight at any rate, and the weekend might be tricky.

Excellent, the TIR problem seems to have fixed itself (I love it when problems do that) so...all I have to do now is remember how to start the thing up properly and shoot and bombs things with it...

Right? For them the question is whether I arrive Friday afternoon or Saturday morning, while I'm still debating going at all.

Seriously though, dinner at my aunt and drinking with my old buddies... could be worse. It's more the phobias and general dislike of events in my honor that hold me back.

Indeed, although some technical hitches are being ironed out.

Raptor spawns in.

And no, neither me or Raptor own the P-51 addon...Yeah, it's that kind of technical hitch...

Landing succesfull. Collision with the C-130 wreck Raptor created on the runway, not so much.
