Default Dynamic Groups

Wonder if someone can help as I am having problems doing the following:-

I create a group and a formation but cannot allocate dynamic starting points to it. Supecting this is a 'no can do' ?

Manual no too helpfull. I can assign dynamic locations to individual units. But the structured group will not do this.

If it can be done I would appreciate advice on the procedure. :hmm:

Keep trying different things but the game stalls when you start a mission with this. It loads 75% then freezes.
Stuck ! :hmm:

I have done that, but both groups had the same dynamic start locations.

Yes thanks for responding Fish.

I cant do more so may have to accept the manuals described limits:-
''There are now two different locations in which the same group might appear at the start of the mission''

My aim is to achieve multiple random start positions for each group.

Will try a 'last ditch' work-around and I'll let you know - if it succeeds. :hmm:

The way I did this is to create 4 different dynamic groups with different starting points, but only 1 gets created at scenario start-up. Each group had 4 merchants and an escort. The escort always has a Tico and a variable number and type of DD's. The individual make up of dynamic groups are fixed but there is a 1 in 4 chance of a group being the convoy in use. First you create the 4 (or more) groups and then add them to 1 master dynamic group with a min and max occurs of 1 and then use the probability of inclusion for each group to randomly pick one of the 4. I can send you the scenario I created, it's a convoy going to Iceland against Russian sub assests.

Thanks Joel. Please send me your scenario as I would like to see how you set it up.

I hoped to create a multi-unit battlegroup wirh assets carefully positioned for threat zones then assign
dynamic starting points for the entire group. I manage a mirror as per manual but try for more than two starters
and I get parts of the group at the individual starting points, or more frequently the sim crashes.

I was punting for a labour saving way of repeating a complex group but it looks as if I shall have to do a Matisse.

Your input as a Programmer is particularly apprecated.

You can make the individual make up of the dynamics group random too.

Default If I can help...

Hello, what I do when I whant to make "random" things and give to my missions a semi-dinamic appearance is to create a dynamic group, for example, with a whale, shrimp, fishing boat and a sailboat; everyone with 25% and only one can appear.
Then I make triggers for any possibilitie.

I made a SC campaign (unfinished ) in which maybe India, Join Russia in a war, or maybe join USA, or maybe remains neutral... so I made 3 possibilities (40% Russia -whale- 30% USA -sailboat- 30%neutral -fishing boat)
And then 3 destination goals with the 3 possiblibities, "if whale...."

Maybe is a long and "manufactured" way to do the things and maybe there are easiest ways of making this (I´m not too used to the DW editor), but that´s what I did.

Hope This can help you and everybody and sorry if you don´t understand something, I´m from Spain and improving my English
