Default Satellite Reign - Syndicate series successor

Can't describe in words how much I loved the Syndicate series back in 93 and 96.
I just recently learned about the true successor of the series that looks quite promising and is already through crowd funding.

Release date: Late 2014
A real-time, class-based strategy game, set in an open world cyberpunk city, from the creator of Syndicate Wars.
Satellite Reign is a real-time, class-based isometric strategy game. You control a team of four agents, each with distinct and unique abilities, collectively battling for control of a fully simulated, living cyberpunk city.
The game world is designed to facilitate emergent gameplay, giving you the tools and freedom to play how you want to play, so you can create strategies and scenarios that not even we had anticipated!
Customize your team with the strength to destroy your enemies head-on, or hack into their facilities to manipulate their infrastructure without them ever knowing you were even there.
Will you take down your enemies with brute-force? Covert espionage and infiltration? Or will you use propaganda to influence the citizens of the city and overthrow the controlling powers?

Satellite Reign

Tears of joy are running down my face...

Looks promising so does the game that some of their friends are making called Recruits (in the "other news" section same page).

It has been released a few days ago and is available on Steam.
While not perfect and still with some typical annoying "release" bugs, it is quite addicting and can offer hours of fun/relaxation.

The devs stated that they would like to release modding tools - when possible, also 1-2 new city districts might follow later on, as well as other features, all depends on how well it sells now.

Been following it for a while, playing it since the release and yes it's very relaxing and addicting to play.

Cyberpunk being my favorite Genre I couldn't pass on it especially with the constant rain and neo lights everywhere look

What I do like about this game is the sense that your not stuck on rails with some main plot you have to follow in a specific order by means of a dialogue. When done right like the Shadowrun games it's not a problem and I enjoy them a lot but I do however at times like to do my own thing my own way.

The UI is very well made imo, I like the menu been well integrated in the style of the game. I do like the different approaches you can do while tackling a mission in the restricted areas, hacking the security systems taking down the cameras or opening doors to other areas within that opens a new route to the objective avoiding being seen or ambush a patrol and take it out without alarming the whole compound. The abilities of your team are interesting like the support's world scan which gives you a nice lay out of the security network and makes it easier to spot the patrols also is nice to discover from the public people who can help you research and you bribe them to work for you or to hijack people who have DNA that provides with better stats and send them to the cloning facility to improve your agents but those stats degenerate each time the agent is killed in action and respawned (cloned) which keeps you always on the look out for better candidates. the Research and development is nice and straight forward to improve your gear and augment the agents.

But yes there are some things they'll need to iron out and improve upon, there can be some annoying bugs but so far nothing broke the game for me. Some are quite annoying like the fact that your agents are a bit like a sack of potatoes that need to be instructed all the time instead of having a bit of self initiative like when they're shot at they don't return fire nor even draw their weapons and it seems the security staff of the different areas do not like eachother the other day in a yard of one of the Wyvern corps the CSA bumped into them and there was a massive firefight going on

Yep, that can happen frequently when you open up in a compound and other mercs or even cops (too rare) come to check it out - they will be treated as trespassers by the corporations security and since they are armed - immediately attacked.

Probably a thing the devs overlooked at first and then said "meh, could be somewhat plausible, let's not fix it, there's no time."
Sometimes civilians also cross the lines and will be dealt with just like any trespasser - through they usually comply, so will be escorted outside.

In general, the game lacks a little more life. Hundreds of aimlessly wandering NPCs don't really create a living city - only the impression of one that easily is seen-through (observe some civilians, they just wander around in one area, no one is going anywhere actually).

In the trailer we see cops "checking" civilians, apprehending them etc.
I miss these things in the game. Things to observe and watch to immerse myself more with this actually beautiful world - nothing beats neon lights in the rain, that is the (visual) essence of cyberpunk for me.

Still, I am confident the game can only get better, the devs definitely have plans - just not the funds at the moment, it seems.
Also, as mentioned, the mod tools! If they really come, I guess many things will be possible to make this even better.

Can't wait.

It would be more nice if they had more of a purpose and interacted with the enviroment like queuing near the large clubs, perhaps some standing outside having a conversation (visually only, no need for voices) more interaction at the market. Using the ATM machines as well so you have to wait before you can 'draw' money from it . Perhaps some small fry hackers trying the same and well it may draw attention from the patrolling police. Perhaps some dissent activity from a few individuals would be nice as well to which the police responds and check them out and aprehends them.

I like the game as it is so far so for me it can only improve which I have faith in that they will.

Yes, very good suggestions, that is what I meant!
Let's wait and see, shall we?

Oh, I totally forgot, they want to add COOP as soon as possible/if possible (again, moneyz).
I could imagine this game to be really fun in MP with friends.

This game just smells for the need for a COOP mode
Would be very handy to have one using the hacker to open areas and knocking down the security where the other player is moving his agent(s)

Bought it last week on sale, and it's not bad, although I gotta say, i liked the cyborg system from Syndicate better than the bodysnatching. Which is not to say that it's worse, it's just different and takes some getting used to. This is more along the lines of Ghost in the Shell + Commandos with RPG elements. Still haven't figured out how the experience points are earned, I always get skill points seemingly out of the blue.

Last mission I tried was sneaking into the training compound on that wild goose chase to get that travelpass. And maybe some weapons to research.

Abducting people to force them to become agents fpr you is great, remember the Syndicate (1993) intro?
The problem is the silly cloning thing.
Apparently, it even clones the in-build augmentations of the clones...meh.
Design overlook or lazyness, I think.

The devs work hard though. This is a 5-man team, they do their best for sure.
Also, the last patch was great, it responded to some issues players reported, and they instantly reacted (optional iron man mode, optional 3x weapon damage, ...)
I'm positive this game will have a bright future, even though the community will stay small for sure. Once modding is in, I'm ok, cause if there's a problem, I can adjust it myself.
