Sad day for our next door neighbour today... she came round with some eggs and told me their rooster had died of a heart attack. He was shagging a chicken when it happened, so he died happy

^ Deaths during consensual sex account for approximately 0.6% of all sudden deaths^ We are separated by a common language in this case not 'shagging'! Death by 'snu snu' ie 'dying in the saddle' Deaths during consensual sex account for approximately 0.6% of all sudden deaths although I don't believe the hen consented

One more event on my ever growing list of disliked tasks....off to pay the vehicle excise licence fee.

Here's a lovely photo, taken by a local resident during the recent snowy weather, of Tonbridge Castle gatehouse. I grew up in Tonbridge and this will always be a place of enduring memory for me (permission for posting obtained)

I think the portcullis is long gone... may even have been taken for scrap during the war; all around towns like Tonbridge (and I can think of one place in particular) iron railings were sawn off for scrap to help the war effort... you can see the little iron 'stubs' projecting from stone kerbs in many places.

Which just reminds me... a World War 1 tank used to sit among the flower beds through that archway, on the other side of the gatehouse, and that was indeed taken off to be melted down in WW2. I know there have been old postcards of Tonbridge showing the tank, so I'll see whether I can turn one up

I only have to make 6 more posts now to reach 10 000. Do I get a badge or something? Do I get some money? And should I make that 10 000th post something really special? I hope I don't just say something stupid or pointless

Pretty cold around these parts todsy so I'm reduced to adding a short sleeved vest to my clothing attire today.

Must be down to the onset of getting older.

Same here. After almost a week of warm weather it snowed yesterday. Now it's overcast and cool but not really cold.

Spent part of yesterday with a physical therapy heart doctor, on a treadmill. Tuesday I was also there for a consultation with a liver specialist. It seems that my heart wasn't the only thing showing raised enzyme levels indicating an attack of some sort, but careful examinations turned up nothing. It seems I can't even get sick properly.

Default IN SORE STRAIGHTS

INTERESTING DAY AFLOAT SAILING IN SAN PABLO BAY IN THE CARQUINEZ STRAIGHT OFF MARE ISLAND. < Carquinez Bridge )BEAUTIFUL WEATHER CONDITIONS AND A FAVORABLE WIND ENABLED SHIRTSLEEVE CONDITIONS AND A HESS CHARDONNAY WITH TOGOS SANDWICHES TILL WE TURNED DOWNWIND FOR OUR HOME MARINA WHEN THE COAST GUARD ADVISED A 'JUMPER' OFF THE CARQUINEZ BRIDGE': "RED TOP- BLACK PANTS" HAD BEEN REPORTED. ALL VESSELS IN THE VICINITY WERE ADVISED TO RENDER AN ASSIST. WITH A COASTGUARD HELICOPTER FLYING OVER HEAD, MY CATALINA AND ANOTHER CATALINA , THE BLUE MOON, CLOSED IN ON THE BRIDGE AND SURROUNDING AREA TO DO A THOROUGH SEARCH OF THE BRIDGE'S THREE SUPPORT BRIDGE-TOWER WOOD BARRIERS (AGAINST SHIP COLLISION) AND ANY AMOUNT OF OLD SHORELINE REFINERY PIERS WHICH COULD CONCEAL A FLOATING CORPSE. MY POST ON THE BOW WITH BINOCULARS AND CO-ORDINATING WITH BLUE MOON WAS UNAVAILING; NO BODY WAS SPOTTED AND, AFTER A SOLID HOUR, WE BOTH PULLED OFF AFTER ADVISING THE COAST GUARD, AND RETURNED TO OR RESPECTIVE MARINAS.(PHOTOS ENLARGE) THE BRIDGE IS LITERALLY I-80 OVER THE SACRAMENTO RIVER AT THE NORTH END OF SAN FRANCISCO BAY AND WHAT LIES BENETAH IS OBLIVIOUS TO MOST MOTORISTS...NOT SO FOR US SAILORS BELOW....
