Perhaps its just me, not flown it a great deal, but I can't say I was impressed on my first go at it. But I must admit I'm a huge fan of the spit and cane... they just do it for me :p. Anyone got info on the best corner speeds for the planes in Il-2?

These are from personal experiences over the years and arent that accurate. Also, different variants have slightly different corner speeds. BF109 = ~280-320km/h Spitfire = ~290-320km/h Hurricane = ~270km/h Zero = ~270-300km/h FW190 = ~350-420km/h P51 = ~350-370km/h |

Yeah corner speed is just the speed in which you can make the tightest turn possible.

If everyone's ok with it, I'd like to play a more familiar campaign tonight (ETO or landbased PTO, Burma for example). For the simple reason to get Steel_Tomb used to the game and online flying. Putting him to a F4F that spins if bird poops on the other wing and carrier ops is a bit cruel, dont you think?

Lol, I actually had a go with the Wildcat, thought it was a pice of crap to be honest. I spent more time fighting the flight model than the zero I was chasing!

OK, maybe bump it to 21:00 GMT, that would work in better with the kids.

In other news, I've chosen Kiev'41 as the campaign we start with tonight. VVS vs. Luftwaffe. Fighters, IL2s & bombers (Pe2s & HE111s). Now, it may need few starts to get the settings right. I've disabled the 'delayed starts' option, meaning that everything for that mission will be spawned at the start instead of gradually during the mission (so we have greater variety of planes to fly). To add to that, both sides have 25 planes limit, making the total to around 50 per mission, then there's the ground objects that I boosted up so I wont be flying 20 minutes to bomb one AA gun. Oh yeh, and the bombers fly in one formation of 12 planes. This naturally drains your CPU power, so I might need to tone the numbers down abit. But let's see then. |

So we're starting at 9pm gmt? I'll be there! Been practicing with the wildcat, takes a while to get used to but I managed to down two zeros within 40 seconds. I dived down on then, blew the trailer out of the sky, his wing came clean off. The leader went for a climb, I had more speed and got a perfect deflection shot, I must have hit the unarmoured fuel tank because he started to spew out flame. Awesome .
