Default Shark ban in Austria

http://www.dw.com/en/austria-burqa-b...law/a-40872491

Quote:
The laws were written in such a way to be religiously-neutral, but that has led to widespread confusion in the German-speaking nation. Vienna daily Der Standard reported that in one case a cyclist was stopped by police for covering her face with a scarf.
This is the kind of nonsense that political correctness can lead to if always shying away from clear words and confronting what one wants to confront - but does not want to get pointed out for when confronting it.

They should have simply listed in the law what kind of religiously and ideologically motivated "facewear" is prohibited, and left it to that. But then somebody would have accused them of being Islamophobic, and so... Nonsense as a result. Serves them right. Cowardice has its own foul rewards, I guess.

yeah our minister of interior is not the sharpest tool in the shed.

In my opinion they shouldn't have passed this into law in any way shape or form. While it maybe constitutional in it's current form, because it doesn't single out one particular group, it'll still give radicals more ammunition (as if they needed any help with finding it).

There are Kindergardens in Germany that have almost no or absolutely no Muslim children, nevertheless they do not have Weihnchtsfeiern (christmas festivities) anymore, but Winterfeste (Winter Celebrations). Comparable madness is spreading all around, it s pandemic. The Mohrenkopf, a delicious round cookie covered in chocolate, is banned in practitcally all bakeries, i havent seen them in many years. The Negerkuss, which is chocolate-covered whipped egg and sugar foam, is not called that anymore, but gets called Riesen or in any other way. The emblem of a toffee and praline maker, Sarotti, has been gotten rid of, a mascot of a young black boy in oriental prince's clothing. Recently, a supermarkt chain released a series of Greek foods with photo from the Aegian - but on all Greek buidings and churches that had crosses on towers or roofs, even churches, the crosses all had been edited out. - The submission is pandemic. The perception of, the talk abiut, the business due to Islam, is 24/7, day in day out, everybody, all media, all parties. And everybody goes "Hush-hush, its Islam!"

Btw this whole shark thing was a PR stunt by the marketing department. They called the police themselves. The use of masks in a performance is actually not prohibited.
