Default Pics and Videos From EAA AirVenture Oshkosh Air Show 2017

I volunteered at the annual Experimental Aircraft Association annual convention and fly-In and have a TON of footage to share from the event. Rather than posting it in individual threads I will try keep all the posts in 1 common location.

The main tribute to this years event was the 75th anniversary of the Doolittle Raid.

The last member of the raid, Lt. Col. Richard E. Cole at age 101 was in attendance for the event. He did a short interview, took pictures with people and also recently had a book written about his experiences in WWII!

Later that same day 11 Airworthy B-25 Bombers performed in a "Doolittle's Raid" re-enactment that included mock bombing and pyrotechnics. 10 of the planes were staged on the concrete to give the impression of the original 16 B-25's that took off from the Aircraft Carrier USS Hornet on April 18, 1942.

Thanks for the photo's and the memories MilitaryAttractions ...

from one of the premier air shows in the country no less.

Did you see any drones on display? Rumor has it that the Blue Angels are switching to drones for their air shows in 2018.

haha actually I got to see the Blue Angels members do a Q&A session with the audience. One of the questions was when are they switching to Super Hornets to which they answered hopefully by 2021.

I'm sure if Obama were still president he'd keep cut funding until all we had was a "Blue Angels Drone Demonstration Team"

Got close enough to almost touch an F-22 Raptor

Next day later got to see not one, but TWO F-22's take off.

Watching the plane go from horizontal to vertical flight is absolutely AMAZING.

AWESOME!!

I frequently visit airshows and static displays at museums here in the UK and wish we had anything approaching near to the above.

Great video's MilitaryAttractions. Thanks for posting them not only here but on Youtube for all to enjoy.

I had the chance to see Panchito, one of the B-25's in your video, up close and personal at an airshow. The air show had other aircraft including a North American T-6 Texan trainer aircraft and Russian Yak fighter aircraft. A P-51 Mustang was scheduled to be there as well but had had engine problems in the week before the appearance which remained unsolved. The P-51 didn't make an appearance at the airshow. I made a few purchases that day including Panchito patches.

All of the puchases and the entry fee's help keep these aircraft flying. You could also purchase rides aboard the B-25 in various locations including the engineer's seat behind the pilots. I had no idea there were 11 surviving B-25 bombers left.

Panchito was the star attraction that day and most stayed to salute it when it took to the air and departed.

I was really suprised at how many B-25's there are still flying. The EAA Museum actualy owns a B-25 as well that is being actively restored. I gave a small donation and toured it as well. Not a whole lot of space in this plane!

This is my favorite plane after the P-38 ...

Grumman F7F-3P Tigercat

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grumman_F7F_Tigercat

Quote:
The Grumman F7F Tigercat is a heavy fighter aircraft that served with the United States Navy (USN) and United States Marine Corps (USMC) from late in World War II until 1954. It was the first twin-engined fighter to be deployed by the USN. While the Tigercat was delivered too late to see combat in World War II, it saw action as a night fighter and attack aircraft during the Korean War.
