Good bye Jerry ... I hope you see Dean Martin in heaven.

I laughed my self silly seeing Jerry Lewis cling to that periscope in his submarine movie "Sailor Beware"

I always loved the Dean Martin - Jerry Lewis films, I loved the skit when he lights up a Superbo cigarette in the film Visit to a small planet.

Rest in peace Jerry.

Jerry Lewis could always give you a good laugh. Jerry Lewis had his serious side as well. Every year, Jerry held the " Jerry Lewis Labor day Telethon for Muscular Dystrophy. It started in 1966 and ran until poor health forced Jerry to discontinue it in 2010.

Jerry raised 2.45 billion dollars for Muscular Dystophy for research and treatment. Although adults could develop Muscular Dystophy and it's derivatives, it was mainly children who got this disease and the ones Jerry most wanted to help.

This is the signature from the Telethon.

The Telethon would run about 20 continuously and sometimes up to 21.5 hours and many screen actors and major musical talents would perform on this show. It also gave new and emerging talents a forum to showcase their respective talents. The Telethon was carried by a number of stations and grew from 64 TV stations to 213 and could be seen coast to coast. There were also a number of venues nationwide all linked together.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Je...r_Day_Telethon

This doesn't include the work Jerry did behind the scenes which was unseen and generally unknown by the public.

Jerry will be missed not only because of his comedic talents but especially by those he always tried to help.

Rest in peace Jerry and thanks for everything.

I'm actually one of his "kids," though at 54 I'm one of the older ones now.

He will be missed.

I'm sorry to hear that you were / are one of " Jerry's Kids " but also happy that you are one of his " older Kids. " and that you were able to overcome these issues. Younger kids should be out playing ball and doing the things kids do, not dealing with an illness like Muscular Dystrophy or any other disease. Hopefully, you are doing well and we are glad you are here with us.

Jerry had some critics who thought the Telethon exploited the terrible images of children suffering from MD. Jerry simply said, " I want people who donate funds to see who is being helped and where their money is going."

Jerry raised over $2 billion for MDA from 1966 through 2010. I wonder how much would've been raised in that time doing it "their way?"

I just look at it as haters gotta hate.

Exactly Fred. I wonder how much the " haters " raised for MDA or any other diseases. You of course would have an insider view of Jerry Lewis and the good he did.
