Top WWII Spy Finally Getting Well-Deserved Recognition...
Virginia Hall, whom the Gestapo feared most among Allied spies and who lived a life of adventure, hardship, and great personal strength, is, after decades of being little known outside of intelligence circles, getting some well-deserved public notice and affirmation for her truly outstanding efforts during WWII:
'A Woman Of No Importance' Finally Gets Her Due -- https://www.npr.org/2019/04/18/71135...y-gets-her-due https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virginia_Hall I first learned of Hall when I came across a book in the New Books section of a library well over a decade ago; the book, The Wolves at the Door, is a fascinating read about a remarkable life and, at the time, I was amazed no one had thought of making a film out of the story; now. it seems, Hollywood has finally caught up with a story that, if it weren't for the fact it is actually true, they would have been hard pressed to imagine... <O>

Never heard of her until now. What an amazing lady, thanks for sharing.
I'll post it on another forum I frequent if you're okay with that.

SOE
Hi,
thanks for the Hall article. I have quite a few books on SOE so if you have the interest I might be able to find facts that you want. I used to work in an office that overlooked the old runway they used to fly Lysanders into France. Most of the really famous spies used it. *** I recommend Ben Macintyres books, especially Agent Zigzag and Double Cross. These are history books, not just fiction. He researches things extremely well *** And for a really British operation, read Operation Mincemeat by Macintyre. Absolutely true, and very entertaining in a dark sort of way. TKW |

I hope that the movies do her story full justice and I look forward to seeing them immensely... tales of Occupied Europe (particularly France) have always held a great fascination for me
