SHO Help w/ GWX 3.0 and time compression settings

I recently installed GWX 3 and on my first patrol when running on the surface, the background sounds are the submerged sounds...no more diesel engine noise like vanilla SHIII. Anyone know why the install changed that and/or know how to fix? I noticed there are a lot more ports displayed in GWX 3, but is there a way to change the color of the port names so enemy is one color and friendly another? Not a big deal, but thought I'd ask. Biggest question: Are there any threads that explain how to adjust time compression? Not just overall, but for various scenarios, like spotting ships, aircraft, how fast you can run in proximity to land, etc? Its taking me FOREVER to get out of port, since every time I crank up the compression the watch officer spots something and drops me down to real time. I'm not overly good with computers (was happy to have correctly installed and run GWX 3), so if you reply with directions please keep them simple! Thanks, shipmates!

have not run into the sound issue. dunno what to tell ya there unfortunately.

port names - they will change as the war progresses. red for enemy, green for ally and i believe blue for neutral.

I haven't messed with it, but if you use SH3 Commander I saw TC settings available in there. I have also seen others mention that using GWX you shouldn't run over 512 TC. If it's taking you forever to get out of port, one thing you could do is remove your watch crew. If they're in their bunks, they can't spot ships and take you out of TC. Of course, that can have it's own dangers.

Time compression settings can be found from your documents/SH3/data/cfg/main cfg

Thanks, Tricky. Good call on the watch crew, I'll try...but only leaving home port.

Thanks much, B. Great tutorials. Found TC and made some changes, see how it works on next patrol.

Regarding your installation of SH3/GWX using Sh3 Commander:

There are additional SH3 Commander configuration files required with SH3GWX.
If you do not have them installed you can find their download at this link:

Hi CTU_Clay, thanks for the welcome. I have not installed Sh3 Commander, only GWX. Should they be installed together, or do they work fine independently?
