......as carbon dioxide hit its highest level in human history.

That's huge.

Exactly, which is why these anti-global warming schemes are all doomed to fail.

To be clear: I think we should be doing everything we can to reduce our impact on our environment and to find new, cleaner and more sustainable sources of energy. To think otherwise is madness.

However, I also think that the idea of instituting any kind of tax or penalty on western nations for not doing so will ultimately be ineffective - at best. The U.S. and all of Europe may institute such laws, but that leaves China, India, Russia and Japan as four out of five of the top polluters that don't seem to care. And China alone contributes twice as much to the problem as the U.S.

The U.S. is already taking some steps to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. IMHO, the next most effective step we can take is to pressure eastern nations, through tariffs and embargoes, to follow suit.

India is investing heavily on solar power and China is increasingly investing on other renewable forms of energy. Japan too is looking to increase their renewable energy share from the current 10% to 15-20% So, to say they don't care, is not quite correct.

I stand corrected. Thank you.

If this is indeed true, I have renewed hope for us.

No offense meant, but Wikipedia is a questionable source.

I mean ... editable by anyone ... (?)

What is written is sourced, you can check it for yourself. Wikipedia simply was the fastest source to post.

You can also simply google '[country] renewable energy' and you get plenty of articles to read.

wierdly, if all homes had a television powered from whatever power source, it would provide an entertainment alternative to general recreational fornication...significantly reducing the world's population/global warming problem!("not now honey, there's a game on!") FORTUNATELY: WHAT I THOUGHT WAS AN UNBEARBLE PROBLEM DUE TO TO 'PROPAGANDA" VIDEOS MAY NOT BE SO:

Candid images of fat, healthy bears taken over the last two years by unbiased photographers across the Arctic are representative of the state of polar bears in a world that’s warmer than it was in 1980. It may seem counter-intuitive but it’s true: polar bears are thriving with less summer sea ice and there are more bears now than there were in 2005 (not a statistically significant amount more, but more nevertheless).
