If I remember correctly the moon does change its position in the sky. Depending on the time of night and the month you see it lower or higher.

Reason is that i prefer the patch in that state, is that i have made some minor changes to a lot of files and i want to check first what files is gona be overwriten.

Then i have better control what it changes and i can adjust my own configuration better.
I understand your worry... However, our first concern must remain ease of installation by users with... errm... varying levels of user skills shall we say?

Installers are GOLD for "confusion control."
Yeah i understand that

Its ok coz i just have to save thos files i have changed , then after the installation i can allways compare. I have to do that anyway no matter whit kind of installation it will be.

Thx for you answer Kpt.Lehman.
I would recommend one of two solutions:

1. If you use SH3Cmdr, add your changes to Static settings.cfg or the other SH3Cmdr Cfg files - then they get added only when you play and removed straight after.
2. Apply your changes via JSGME so you don't need to do the "file shuffle" every time a GWX patch or hotfix is released.

Personally, I do the former and have never had any probs.

FOR EVERYONE ELSE - THERE WILL NOT BE A JSGME VERSION OF THE JANUARY PATCH. It will be installer only (and pls, stop using the term "auto-installer" - remember the crap last time? ). The installer makes adjustments that are just not possible if installing via JSGME. And as the Kpt said - ease of use for the majority of players is the preference.

Umm, already been raised mate... See my second post in http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=103764

The DVD patch gives me the same error the GWX mod gives me, so it looks like its not gonna work with the digital download version either, you have to use the digital download version 1.4b patch. This is another reason why we need a non-exe install option. With an automated install it will kick it back for anyone I bet who has the digital version.

One of the errors you get when trying to install the DVD patch is MissionEngine.dll error. Also the SHIII.dll. If you delete them to install it says it cannot find them. So it want work like the other patches to delete these.
If the installer did not work on the digital version, wouldn't you expect a few others to have problems too? Seems strange that it is only you that is having this problem...:hmm:

Perhaps if you post the error log that the installer created, we may be able to help more?

I assume that you confirmed that your d/l GWX files are not corrupted?

Yes, it changes position on the sky (rises and sets) BUT its PHASE doesn't change. It has the same phase as a week ago! There is always a half (reversed D-shaped=waning) moon on the sky in my game despite it should be a full moon now as it rises approximately the same time as the sun sets.

Sorry to quote myself but that was a numpty thing to say. Of course you can use the MD5 Compare with a single d/l as it contains all of the needed parts.

So get the MD5 checker here - http://www.users.on.net/~jscones/software/products/jsmd5c.exe

Then use this file to check your GWX files - http://files.filefront.com/GWXmd5/;6.../fileinfo.html

It worked with the DVD version I went out and bought lastnight. Had the same issue with the last version of GW, but all is good now. I want be buying anymore downloadable games until they start making them the same file versions as the disk. Not sure if that was my issue or not. But after a clean install and patched to 1.4b on the digital version and making sure the files ( all of them ) were removed from the previous install. GWX still would not install. It was not a corrupted download of GWX, because it installed fine on the DVD version with no problems.
Speaking of which.....GOOD DANG JOB GUYS!

Thanks to the GWX Team and special thanks to JScones and Danlisa for there help.

Currently attempted to give those British Destroyers who are hounding me the slip after I sunk 5 of there Pyro Cargo Ships. Creeping away at 145 meters and screws turning for 2 knots, very slowly. There depth charges are still way above me, but that could change at anytime. They know I'm here, just not how deep I am.

ok I understand your reasons and give up

of course I use JSGME for all file changes... no problem here
Lets say I've got modified basic.cfg and menu_1024_768.ini
I'd only like to know which files will be affected by the 31st Jan update... so I can say to myself:
- ok, no changes in menu1024.ini don't have to make all the editing again
OR
- yes the basic.cfg is new I must look at it

Ahoy!
Ive been playing SH3 for quite some time now.
I downloaded GWX for two days now. Been trying to install it over and over, but the install still says the files are corrupted after a few files.

I have a clean install, deleted the SH3 folder in my documents, deleted in program files, and sweeped the registry with a reg cleaner.
Updated to 1.4b (I have the european version), and still GWX sticks on corruption.

Ive tried re-downloading the md5 files, from the official site this time, still doesnt work. I tried comparing the md5 files with jsgsssomething, says theyre different.

What is this?
Im getting pretty tired of this.
thanks in advance

EDIT

Well dang it!
Looks like i had everything wrong!
Obviously i downloaded the JANUARY version of GWX, which is the update of some sort. I downloaded from that french site, it was the DECEMBER version. The complete install, i suppose.
Anyways, nothing works as fine as this!
This supermod is defenitively AWESOME
AVAST MATIES!

Also, those who have problems with installing it, might check the version first! Nothing gives you an idea of which it is january or december version.

Hoy,
after 8 patrols with GWX I think that is more eyecandy action arcade(deck gun, mostly one torpedo per ship, sinking time, scores...its more like "catch your destroyer", I sank more destroyers than cargo ships) with not so good tune AI (sometimes strange, "Star Trek detection" destroyers and ships, super planes...yes harder escorts, but this is strange...) than realism simulation like tGW. Dont take this post like offensive pleas, I only expected like sub sim games veteran past tGW another great realism mod not this and Im "little" disappointed.
But I understand that you prefered most of players not some mad, HC, for realism hungry maniacs . GW isnt ideal in all ways, but still for me probably best WW2 sub sim and (unfortunately) unequalled. So no thanks for GWX(its brought me only disillusion and grey hair) but again THANKS for tGW.

..why, why I deleted it, now i must download it again.

Place all 5 GWX bin files and the exe in one folder along with jsmd5c.exe and the MD5 text file - http://files.filefront.com/GWXmd5/;6354946;;/fileinfo.html

Launch the MD5 compare program
Click the centre tab " Compare from MD5 file "
1,Select MD5 file - point this towards the MD5 text file and the program will run and compare the files

If the MD5 check fails on a file then its corrupted and no point installing
D\L the corrupt file again from another cource

You can D\L as a single zip file at http://www.jeuxdeguerre.com/index.php?p=4&file_id=977&t=44
