Default How do supply boats work?

I am currently on a mission (Oct 1940) and a couple of grids over is a supply ship. How do I resupply from the ship if I need fuel and torpedoes. Is there an actual ship there, or is it once I am in the same grid everything is automatically resupplied?

Regards

There is a ship there that functions as a port. If you are in the vicinity then you can dock as if ending your current patrol. But the game knows this is a special kind of port so it doesn't completely finalize the patrol. It knows this will be a intermediate break. You can't assign medals, or do repairs there, or do crew transfers iirc. When starting the next 'new' patrol it will be from the supply ship. You get replennished torpedoes and fuel and can continue the second part of this patrol. You will leave the 3d world, and have to go through the whole game loading sequence because it looks like it's a new patrol.

And you´ll get "PQ Null" as your next patrol grid with order to come home.

Or, if you have h.sie-patch installed, you can do a "touch and go" and yuo´ll get some fuel and perhaps some torps. I never did it, so you have to read the manual.

It is possible for the game to make awards and enable crew changes when docked with a supply ship or U-Tanker. Just go to the commander's desk and click on the filing cabinet in the corner - this contains all the usual crew options and is realistic to an extent because in such circumstances in real life there would have been an opportunity to learn of awards or to change some members of the crew.

Ok, I wasn't sure. Haven't tried that route.
