Great! What I,ll do now is (first) Uninstall all the Mods in the Program(x86) folder from SH4,(second) Copy and Paste SH4 into the Ubisoft folder with SH5 in ,which is on the C root drive, then reinstall the Mods in SH4. I could see which version will open by checking JSGME shortcut for the Wolves on the desktop, unless as you say the shortcuts will only apply to the stock game in Program(x86) folder, ummm ! I,ll give you a shout if I have any trouble Hardigen

I have done what I said in the last thread, the Mods are installed in the C drive Ubisoft folder , I have used the SH4 icon Application for a desk top shortcut, the saved games are there . Now to get a grip of the initial trouble which is the game crashing (which it still does ) in the new folder . LAA and Capn Scurvys thread is now my option to get this resolved, any other advice will gratefully be taken on Board. Hardigen

Open your Windows Explorer or My Computer, or Computer, whatever they call it, and navigate into your new C:\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter 4 folder, and double-click on SH4.exe there in order to start the game. That way, you're certain that you're running the correct executable. Also, don't attempt to run old saves from the first C:\Program Files install. Those usually won't function correctly for you, once you've started getting crashes. You usually have to start over from scratch when things like that happen... sorry. The vagaries of the old game...

Thanks Prop, I had a bit of trouble running the game at first but with trial and error I found it opened with SH4 icon app, so the best way is with the ,exe, ok, The first time it opened I tried a Patrol mission, Shut it down Opened again then went to the saved games , I have also downloaded LAA ,opened it and clicked on the Browse .... , It was populated with stuff I don,t understand , I could,nt find SH4,exe, in the list . Is there something I,m not doing right ? The LAA was in the Basic mode

In the "Basic Mode", there's a "gray" colored "Step1:Select an Executable" box. To the right side of that is a box like "[ ... ]" Click on that ellipsis box, and you'll get a Windows file browser "Open" dialog. Navigate through that to find the folder that holds your new copy of the game, which doesn't always reside in the last folder that LAA used (probably the "C:\Program Files" folder)...
