Not according to Kratos's track, looks like you crashed just to the left of the tower and truck...

The only thing you managed to destroy was yourself

...Then I exploded, taking out both the Truck and the Tower

At least, I'm pretty sure, as they both disappeared after I exploded

I really need to record these tracks myself

Once again nice sorties, even though the Poles didn't provide much resistance. Once again the biggest problem seemed to be good old mother earth. For some reason a 109 loses that battle EVERY TIME

Here's a short recap:

1st mission was CAP just above front lines near the town of Pltrqzxcvy-something, and things looked promising enough in the briefing. Some P.11 appeared after a short while, but with us + about 12 AI 109s in the area it was one huge furball with no telling who's who. Our guys drew first blood, and soon there was only one P.11 with the 12 AI 109s(that's how many I counted, there could have been more I didn't see) behind its tail. Us humans kept the distance to observe the results, and surprisingly enough no 109s went down in that engagement. I also saw two P.11s collide right under my nose at one point, so at least we're not the only ones doing the ramming Landing went as usual, with a few disabled 109s scattered around the base.

2nd mission was to bomb a supply column and an airbase in HE-111s with one of us(Hunter?) flying escort in a 109. Everyone took their own 111(my first flight in the type), and at least for my part the result was hardly surprising: no damage to the target. Most of us were damaged by flak, but iirc only one or two didn't make it back to base. Worth mentioning is our escort making it back without a rudder On landing Oberon played "chickens" with the rest of us in parked 111s, and neatly stopped about 2 meters from disaster

edit: Nice shots btw Kratos

I'm pretty sure there were 6 or 9 P.11s against about 20 109s in the first sortie, and I lost my plane because the idiotic AI rammed me...but I killed 2 and severely damaged 1 (Got credit for only 1 kill though)

The 2nd sortie you guys were SLLLLOOOOOOWWWW, I was done dropping my bombs and getting back to base before you people were even in sight...

Too bad I took the wrong bombload, those hangers would've felt my wrath!

Yep, again great sorties

We where assigned to attack a Supply collum, the P11's where heading north to patrol the area there.

when I reache the target area, I strafed the front car destroying it and 1 supply truck.
a Flak truck hit the jackpot...it scratched me paintjob and knocked my rudder off.

landing without a rudder is harder then it seems, you'll need to keep it straight before touching down and hope you're able to roll it off the end of the runway.

The skin I use is from the Luftwaffe Pilot Helmut Henz:

Photo:

Quote:
Helmut Henz was born on 27 January 1911 at Berlin. Following fighter pilot training, Henz was posted to I./136, based at Jever in Germany. Henz gained his initial combat experiences with the Condor Legion during the Spanish Civil War. Oberleutnant Henz was assigned to 4. Staffel of J 88. He served in this conflict for part of 1937. The beginning of World War 2 saw Oberleutnant Henz serving as Staffelkapitän of 4./JG 77. He participated in the first battles with RAF bombers over the Heligoland area in late 1939 gaining his first victory over a RAF Wellington twin-engine bomber on 14 December 1939. Henz claimed another Wellington shot down in Wangerooge area on 18 December. Henz served in Norway with 4./JG 77, relocating there on 11 April 1940. Here he gained a further victory when he shot down a RAF Blenheim twin-engine bomber near Stavanger on 30 April 1940. Promoted to the rank of Hauptmann and appointed Gruppenkommandeur of II./JG 77, Henz led the unit through the invasion of the Balkans. Henz encountered Blenheims attempting to bomb shipping at Maleme in Crete on 25 May 1941. It would appear that fire from the bombers’ gunners struck Henz’s Bf 109 E-7 (W.Nr. 1271), who was killed when the aircraft crashed into the sea off Antikythera Island, Greece.
Helmut Henz claimed six victories. All his victories were recorded over the Western Front

Mine belongs to a Luftwaffe ace called Stefan Litjens:

Quote:
Stefan “Steff” Litjens was born on 13 October 1913 at Hasselt in Niederrhein. Following a pre-war fighter pilot’s training, he was posted to JG 53 in August 1937. At the outbreak of World War 2, Unteroffizier Litjens was serving with 4./JG 53. On 16 October, Litjens was sent to Wiesbaden as a flight instructor to assist with the formation of II./JG 53. He remained at Wiesbaden until 4 November. Litjens recorded two victories during the French campaign. During the Battle of Britain, Litjens recorded four victories. Over the Eastern front, Litjens was to be particularly successful. He shot down five Russian fighters on 25 August 1941. On 11 September, Litjens shot down two Russian SB-2 twin-engined bombers to record his 22nd and 23rd victories. Later that day, he engaged in aerial combat with Russian I-16 and I-18 fighters while escorting Ju 87 dive bombers in the Romanova area. During the dogfight, his Bf 109 F-4 (W.Nr. 8408) was hit by return fire. He baled out of his stricken aircraft badly wounded landing in friendly territory. He was hospitalised at Riga but lost the sight from his right eye.

Oberfeldwebel Litjens returned to 4./JG 53, now based in Sicily, in October 1942, despite his vision impairment. He flew missions over Malta before the unit was transferred to Tunisia. Here he claimed eight Allied aircraft shot down and flew many ground attack missions. Litjens was awarded the Ritterkreuz on 21 June 1943 for 32 victories. Following a lengthy period of leave, Litjens returned to 4./JG 53 on 17 November 1943. The unit was now operating on Reichsverteidigung duties. On 22 February 1944, he shot down three USAAF B-17 four-engined bombers. He downed a further two B-17 bombers on 23 March. However, he was again shot down by return fire making an emergency landing in Bf 109 G-6 (W.Nr. 440 215) “White 5+” near Gifhorn. He suffered an injury to his left eye which precluded any further combat duty. He remained with the unit until the end of the war and never stopped trying to have the decision to refrain him from combat overturned. Stefan Litjens died on 25 February 2002 aged 88.

“Steff” Litjens was credited with 38 victories in 444 missions. He recorded 17 victories over the Eastern front. Of his 21 Western front victories, five were four-engined bombers.

Talk about it! I dived on a 109 several times recognizing my mistake only seconds before opening fire. During that furball one AI 109 decided to start acting like my wingman(even though I had no control over him, and he definitely wasn't there when I took off). He caused quite a confusion a couple of times when I suddenly spotted him at my deep 6 o'clock In the end the ****er crashed when I landed; it was funny to hear you guys cautioning "Fin, there's one AI behind you acting like your wingman", followed by a flash of light and KABOOOM! from behind me

I tried using the bombsight on the He111 but in the end just thought "Sod it" and dive-bombed the damn airfield. Hit a hangar too. I hope I get credited for that... :hmm: It's my only kill so far...

As for playing chicken with the rest of you, yes, that was close I slammed the brakes on and hit full port rudder as soon as I saw what was happening, and thankfully that took effect before I ploughed into you I'm glad no-one spotted me accidentally turn off both my engines whilst trying to type in chat...that could have been quite embarrasing had I not managed to get them both going again... And Fin, you forgot to mention about Gorings 111 trying to take the road to Berlin! And the German bumper car tournament at the start of the sortee. Fortunately, I got some shots

Impressed (!) by the attempt by the Kriegsmarine to disguise shipping using breaking lines, Goring orders our Staffel to try it out. Unfortunately our ground crew didn't quite get the idea...

Gorings private Heinkel. Going off-road, cross country to Berlin.
"Gotterdam it Hans, will someone shift the fat bastard to the back so we can at least get the nose up?!"

"Our plane is slightly damaged, we need to flee somewhere safe! I know...let's go and lie down on this active runway!!"

Schroder goes after another P.11 whilst Raptor reports his second kill, shortly before being rammed...

There was a traffic jam so Göring had to take the cross-country groundplane instead...

In the first sortie a couple of 109s decided to stick to my tail through the ENTIRE mission, I think one those eventually rammed me
