Anyone else editing .dds files to enhance the look of your sub ?

Hey all, just tried my hand on editing some of the weirder flags in TWoS.

Used Gimp with the *.dds plugin.

Changed the pendant with the SS-Death's head to grey.
Was never used by the Kriegsmarine let alone by U boat crews.

Anyone else into editing certain parts of the boat ?
(for instance putting other photos up the wall et cetera)




I replaced it with my present tonnage (though only properly visible from one side due to the file which does not consist of two sides....)




Also in the U boat emblem files there are some files which have the same problem, mirrored on one side. I do not know how to tackle that though.


Ah and just a small question, anyone know where the .dds file is on which I could change the picture in this frame ?

I believe that the .dds file that has the picture you show are actually in two files:
various_books_postera_maps.dds
various_books_posters_maps.dds
in data\Texture\Tnormal\tex
The two files are in the mods
Naights Submarine Textures (internal) V1.1
Naights Submaine Textures v1.2 (PUV)
Currently the picture you show is replaced by the photo of the actress Hedy Lamarr, but if you use Gimp you can change the picture as you want in .dds format.



Another free program that you could use to process .dds files is Paint.net
With paint.net I changed in the toilet image of Karl Doenitz with a picture of Marlene Dietrich, picture a bit more cheerful:

Did you brighten the light map.dds file too ?

I just lighten the image that I took with CTRL + F11!

Ah understood !

I found the dark aft toilet a bit strange since there is a working lightbulb there while the forward toilet has a broken lightbulb...
