SH5: Bugs, glitches, and issues thread

I am having serious issues with this guys, every time I hit a target using torpedoes, I get the silent hunter V has stopped working and a ctd. I have the game patched to 1.02 and am running the following mods: Open horizons II 2.1, equiptment upgrades 1.4 by the beast, and TheDarkWraith UI 7.3. Can anyone help with this?

What's the faulting module?

Have you tried disabling mods one at a time to figure out if one of them is causing the CTD?

Look in your \Silent Hunter 5 folder and see if you have that file. If you don't then it's a valid error.

That file is not there...do i have to re-install the game...put all the mods back now and start from scratch???

If you don't have this file in the game's root folder then disable all mods, uninstall the game and install it again

DId you use TDW's patcher? If so, perhaps you deleted it. Send me a PM and I will send you flle. File is about 802KB.

Can i keep the current career i have going?...and can i install sobers mega mod up to date with the latest TDW patcher??? mid-patrol with the current career i'm playing with???

Yes, you can.. just save the folder Documents/SH5 or don't allow to remove it while uninstalling..

Perhaps it's not possible mid-patrol.. I think you can do it only in a bunker save..

Perhaps it's possible, seeing as it doesn't edit any campaign files. But to be safe, follow voldoya's advice. Bunker saves are the safest saves (so much saving in that sentence )

I am able to shoot stuff with torpedos now, after about an hour of play time and 2 ships sunk, I was shooting my deck gun at a merchant and got an CTD during a HE shell explosion. This might be just a random SH CTD, or it could be OH related. Either way, I can shoot torpedos now so I owe you a cold beer

So I just grabbed Silent Hunter 5 off Amazon to be quite disappointed as the game is not running very well. (or at all)

I start the first mission, listen to the starting dialogue about the captain wanting to see me then nothing happens. I can press WASD and I'll hear footsteps. I can press Shift and U to jump to the bridge and I'll see nothing, just a grey backdrop. If I press F2 and fly around with the camera I can see my sub suspended in nothingness. I can walk around the bridge but soon as I descend back into the sub the camera will freeze but footsteps will continue.

Specs;

intel i5 3570k @ 3.4GHz
8GB Ram, 1600mhz
Radeon HD 6850 GPU

Big white squares = graphic card running out of mem
2GB and a 32bit system

I would drop the steelviking mod, or at least delete the large hungery .dds files from it

SteelViking's Interior Mod V1.2\data\Textures\TNormal\tex
Look in his thread - there is some talk of doing this to fix mem issues

Im hope this will fix your display issues

Hello, I just had my first major CTD, and now my savegame is broken. I know I can start a new profile, but at least, can I import my old savegame stats into the new one? Like promotion points and renown?
