Some of us 'cheaters' that use auto TMA still go through the process of solving the towed ambiguities. Just thought I'd put that out there.

"cheaty" was a bad way to say it, but I think Pisces was referring to the way the AutoCrew and resolve ambiguities without either a course change or a contact on another array. I think he was saying that the Autocrew "cheats" by doing things that the player cannot.

I don't think he was implying that it was cheating to use the autocrew. I do most of the TMA, broadband, and narrowband work manually, but sometimes I'll turn it over to the AUtocrew when there is a lot of other things happening. I always leave the active intercept autocrew on, but that takes way too much attention to do manually and still generate good data.

Aye.

My style of play is the true crew concept. I use auto TMA simply because I'm the skipper and frankly I have 'crewman' to do that - same with active intercept - my attention is focused elsewhere, weps, nav, sonar. I always found manual TMA a bit boring and as i said I'd rather concentrate on other aspects of platform management. I've completely perfected using the auto - crewman there is really no need to change now. Whatever I shoot at - dies - that's what counts in the end.

I will admit to auto Weps here and there just for multiple preset purposes. Other than those its manual operations throughout.

To be clear here, I manually right down towed ambiguity bearings with pen and paper instead of marking them both on the sonar / NAV displays before the course change. I hadn't thought of doing it the way described by Pisces until I saw FPSChazly do it in one of his videos. That's too much work. Pen and paper works best for me - to each his own. Different ways of getting to the same place but by no means short cutting the process.

I wasn't implying that the player is cheating, but the autocrew does. I can easily understand that one wants to use the TMA autocrew to help them on the TMA part. Unfortunately it takes out the mirror problem to easily.
