Default TWOS Breaking the Fortress not completing?

I'm not sure what the Breaking the Fortress objective is anyways, but I sank the HMS Renown and the HMS Royal Sovereign and escaped successfully, so shouldn't the objective be completed?

Mission Is to sink The Ships you indicate ( Located in the NE Corner of the Harbour ). As far as I remember you need to sink at least 1 of them.

Have you reached Mission date end ? It won't complete until it does

I haven't reached the date end so that might be it. It also turns out I didn't sink the Royal Sovereign even though I hit it with 5 (non-dud) torpedoes, it appears the depth isn't great enough for the ship to actually "sink", it just rests on the bottom even though the whole thing exploded. This is pretty weird since the Renown appeared to be at similar depth and it only took 2 torpedoes.

If they show up in your captains log, they are sunk.

Hi hk
If you did not request the mission then it will not show completed as there is no mission icon showing against the mission.
When the objective is completed this disappears.
When the mission date runs out it will show as finished on the campaign screen.

HW3, that's how I found out it didn't "sink" even though it had 5 holes in its hull below the waterline. I checked my log and it wasn't there. I've still got 40k tons of warship thanks to a destroyer and armed merchant cruiser (who thought those were a good idea!) though.

theberbster, thanks, I'll check when the date ends. I just got resupplied but there's about 3 days left, so I can't go back at this point.

As an aside would returning to Scapa Flow later be somewhat realistic with increased security? I really enjoyed that mission but if the British don't improve security past the 3 destroyers that I evaded it seems kind of like an exploit to go back for more capital ships.

No because the capital ships will not be there.
The mission is a tight one between certain dates 10th Sptember to 15th October.
BTF usually appears after you have already requested a BCW mission when you are already at sea.

Why not just delete a saved game or two and do it again?

I didn't mean for that particular mission, did you mean that the British will never have capital ships there again?

I would have figured with 5 in her she would have sunk. I have taken them both down with 2 torpedoes each before, so they both can be sunk. That was a tough break for you not getting credit for her. As far as later in the war for a return trip, I have not tried it to see what might be there, so I can not say one way or another about what might be in there.

We now that that mission has 2 capital ships that can be sunk although the mission objective is to sink only 1.
I do know if you go back the day after the mission ends there will be no capital ships there.
Whether at some later time days or months there will be I cannot tell you as I have never tried it.
