Default Wolves of Steel: Four Bearing Question re: "Z" hotkey

I'm playing WoS and am trying to do real navigation and the four bearing method.

However, the tutorial video explains that you should spam the "Z" key to get the bearing readout, but in the mod that is the rig for silent running hotkey.

What is the command (mouse clicks) to have your hydrophone operator tell you the bearing of the locked contact?

Alternatively, I downloaded the mod to remap hotkeys, but I cannot figure out which actual *command* I'm looking for to map to a key, so the name of the command would also help.

(Thanks in advance, and sorry if this is the wrong place.)

The best solution is to change the keyboard by adding the following mod.
This mod makes a number of changes including the Z key giving instant hydrophone bearings in the message box.
Church's SHV 1.01 Keyboard Commands > Replaces The W-A-S-D Keys > Enable last inJSGME

You will need to make changes in the Options File Editor Viewer as there are duplication's that need to be allotted a new key.
I can help you with this if you wish to proceed.

Thanks, this was perfect. From installing the mod I learned that the shortcut I'm looking for is "report_nearest_sound_contact", so I can remap that on my own using the key mapper to a free key and leave the "z" key alone for silent running.

Appreciate your help!

But this does lead me to a different question: Is there a command to report *followed* target as opposed to *nearest* target? Or do I just need to get on the hydrophone myself for that?

Hi roccom
Check this out, I hope it is not too confusing.

Keyboard Changes Needed In The Options File Editor Viewer with Church's SHV 1.01 Keyboard Commands 1.1 Mod
Please note that TWOS has a few different settings to the Default Keyboard.

If you wish to change your default keyboard to one that can give you a Hydrophone bearing by pressing the Z key then you may wish to change your keyboard layout.
Church's SHV 1.01 Keyboard Commands 1.1
Abbreviated here to > CKC.

This mod should always be last in JSGME and not be overwritten.

Keyboard Key Information.
C > Default > Compass and Rudder.
C > CKC > Crash Dive.
Z > Default > Silent Running.
Z > CKC > Nearest Contact.
This has to be accessed from the Compass Bar and no key commands can be set for this.
Changes need to be made for the following.
Radio Messages > Change from I to F.
Teleporting Bar > Change to T to Y unless used for Decoys in TWOS .
Torpedo Load > Needs a key?
Radio > CKC uses T.
Message Box > Needs a Key?
M Key > Map > CKC uses > F3.
Z Key > Silent Running > CKC uses > Chief Engineer Icon > Not F8 as shown.
Remove Navigation Marks > Change to Shift + S.
Shift + X > CKC uses > Follow Warship.
