On Amazon.co.uk I've just seen this review of DCS:A-10C. Needless to say he gets short shrift. It's just a shame that so far 4/21 people found the review helpful!

Fun:
This review is from: DCS: A10C Warthog (PC DVD) (DVD-ROM)
If you remember the glory days of flight simulators, this game is nothing like that.

Unnecessary overcomplicated.

If you want to use a controller that doesn't cost £270 then forget it, mapping does not work with rudder and throttle and thats as far as I got, uninstalled, sending it back as faulty, complete shambles.

^ Perfect example of people who buy stuff blindly, then bitch and moan at the developers when they can't wrap their heads around it.

Read most of his other comments, if it doesn't involve blowing stuff up from the first second of starting the game it gets a 1* rating.

Edit: His review of an Xbox 360
XBOX live is nothing more than 8 players connected to a host that is randomly chosen from one of the xbox users and 99 times out of 100 you will just keep dieing without knowing why because of the latency, and there is always high latency because microsoft favors american hosts, this is purposely designed so that the rest of the world becomes easy to beat playthings for american youth.

For the price this console is very fast because its dangerously overclocked with no decent airflow, this console will not last much longer than a year and is why microsoft was forced to extend the warranty to 3 years.

The games do not let you set up the controller configuration or graphical detail, you can not take screenshots or do anything creative like making movies.

There is no clan formation or choice of hosting clan match's.

This is no gaming machine...

Some images of the new terrain engine....

Quote:
19 August 2011

Sorry for the long drought in updates. Current the team is mostly focused on the Black Shark update, the next A-10C patch, the Nevada terrain, and our next DCS aircraft. Speaking of the Nevada terrain, here are a few new images that highlight the dynamic terrain shadowing system of our new terrain engine being used for Nevada, Eagle Dynamics Terrain Engine (EDGE).

Hope you like them.

Thanks,
Matt

Pretty darn gorgeous.

Were there any requirements for this? In the sense of DX10, 10.1 or 11 that is. Hard to believe they're getting this out of DX9.

...and our next DCS aircraft...

Any ideas? I know the ED forum has wish lists but nothing more fruitful.

And that NV terrain is looking great.

IIRC they are making a jet. Not sure which one though. After that I remember them saying that they are going to make Apache in some point.

They did? Always thought they'd stick to single-seaters.

As for the next plane, I'm hoping for Hornet.

EDIT: Apache thread: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=48772

Currently, we still hope to release an AH-64A DCS module, but have no updates to provide at this point.
