bullhorn Subsim's Atlantic Fleet review

A thorough review of this exciting new naval game by our own Niedowidek

Atlantic Fleet

Quote:
The Battle of Atlantic mode is a dynamic campaign that may be a most appealing feature for many users. Spanning from 1939 to 1945 it puts you in command of Kriegsmarine or Royal Navy (limited to 20 vessels each) tasked with protection or destruction of convoys vital to United Kingdom’s war effort and survival. Convoy routes and weather change in time and are depicted on Atlantic Ocean’s map divided into sectors. One turn corresponds to half a week of fighting. As the struggle is going to be long and arduous, the commander has to be careful with managing his resources, withdrawing ships to ports for repairs or rearming, building new vessels and distributing available taskforces to sectors where they are needed the most.

Thanks for the review, Niedowidek

I've been a bit leery of tablet games up until now. I may dip my toe into the Atlantic with this one.

... One of the best, if not the best naval sim ever, sort of a reborn GNBNA after 25 yrs from my point of view! Contains all we ever dreamed of e.g. when we were unlucky with all those FS-limitations in the late 90s, modded DC or tried in vain to command the well drawn capital ships in SH3 a decade ago ...

Great review for a great game

I agree, Pacific Fleet has that feel of a 1990s game - well thought out, accessible, and gives you a great "being there" feeling. At high difficulty levels, it's also challenging and anything but an arcade game!

Strongly, strongly recommended to everybody on Subsim Trust me, if you have any passing interest in naval gaming, you'll love this one.

We have an update in the works for some final bug fixes.
After that we're not sure where we'll take the title.

I love this game. A recreation of GNBNA like another poster said except that this is WAY better. I do take issue with the ability for Germany to construct capital ships in ports in occupied territories. I think that needs to be fixed.
